2 Welcome to our 41st Angus Production Sale! This is the best time EVER to be in agriculture markets are high and demand is up. With these prosperous times, we cannot waiver from our long term plans. Sire selection could never be more important to us than right now. Our buyers are selling pounds at weaning and it is our job to bring you a selection of bulls to give you that explosive gain from birth to weaning. It is our responsibility to plan matings with just that right female, developing top end replacement heifers and bulls, watching them grow and mature and then send that just right bull off to our buyer s herd knowing he recognizes his value. Calving ease is very important in our region. 70% of this year s bull offering can be used with your first calf heifers with confidence. Pass Creek Angus Ranch has been in business for 55 years. All our females are run with no special treatment just like a commercial cow. We are consistently striving to better our females for fertility, good utters, improving carcass, and docility. We all know it is all about those females! Go ahead look that bull straight in the eye and he still isn t going to tell you what he can do for you but predictable genetics can take a lot of the guesswork out of what your cow will produce. Breeding Soundness All bulls passed a breeding soundness examination and semen evaluation on February 13 & 14, 2015 for the Fall Bulls and March 2nd and 3rd, 2015 for the yearling bulls. 4 Guarantee All bulls selling for $3,000 or more will be covered against breeding injury for 50% of value by Pass Creek Angus if they are injured during the first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as a 90 day period following the first turn out of the bull. In case of a loss: 1.Notify Pass Creek Angus as soon as possible. 2.Verify the injury with a veterinarian; we may seek a second opinion. 3.Credit minus salvage value will be issued or a replacement bull can be supplied, if available. 4.A copy of the salvage value will be required. 5.Credit is good at any Pass Creek Angus sale and does not expire. 6.This guarantee does not cover death. 7.All claims must be made before September 1, Discount A $40 rebate per bull will be given if buyer picks up bull on sale day only. Arrangements available to feed bulls at $2.00 per day until pickup can be made. Delivery Free delivery of bulls up to 250 miles, balance at cost. Absentee Bidding If for any reason you are unable to attend the sale, you may contact us with your requirements in a bull and we will send you a list of bulls that fit your needs and then contact one of our Sale Representatives with your bid(s) and they will do their best to get them bought for you. You may also pre-register for a buyer number by calling us and then bid from the comfort of your home by phone with one of our Sale Representatives. We have a Sight Unseen Guarantee on all bulls purchased in this manner. If you don t like em, you don t own em. 11 Herd Bulls Bull Report EPD Data Expected Progeny Difference (EPD) Is the prediction of how progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals in the Angus breed. As date continues to accumulate, accuracy levels rise and EPDs can shift accordingly. Birth Weight EPD (BW) Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of transmitting ability for birth weight. The Angus breed is noted for calving-ease. A bull with a Birth Weight EPD under +2.6 is generally regarded as suitable for mating with virgin heifers. Weaning Weight EPD (WW) Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of the transmitting ability for weaning weight. An emphasized trait when marketing calves at weaning. For example, you can expect progeny from a sire with a +60 weaning EPD to weigh 30 lbs. more at weaning on the average than progeny from a sire with a weaning EPD of +30. Maternal Milk EPD (Milk) Is a predictor of transmitting ability of the portion of calf weaning weight attributed to daughters milk. An indicator of replacement female production level. Yearling Weight EPD (YW) Expressed in pounds, is a predictor of transmitting ability for yearling weight. An emphasized trait for yearling feedlot performance and profitability. Marbling EPD (MARB) Is a predictor of transmitting ability for intramuscular fat. The majority of straight Angus cattle grade USDA Choice of higher under normal feedlot management. Ribeye Area EPD (REA) Is a predictor of transmitting ability for ribeye area. Muscle is a key component of yield grade. Beef Value ($B) facilitates what almost every beef breeder is already seeking - simultaneous multi-trait genetic selection for feedlot and carcass merit, based on dollars and cents. $B represents the expected average dollar-per-head difference in the progeny postweaning performance and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires Feedlot Value ($F) an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires. $F incorporates weaning weight (WW) and yearling weight (YW) EPD along with feed intake data, genomic information and trait interrelationships. Typical feedlot gain value and cost differences are accounted for in the final calculations, along with a standard set of industry values for days on feed, ration costs and cash cattle price. 10
