6 WELCOME TO THE SALE Welcome to Advanced Beef Genetics Welcome to the inaugural Advanced Beef Genetics bull sale. Although we have been developing, marketing and selling commercially targeted bulls in the past, we are extremely excited to offer this first set of bulls under the Advanced Beef brand. From all of us at Advanced Beef Genetics, we cannot begin to thank you enough for the interest in our offering or purchasing your seedstock needs with us. Developing and maintaining relationships with our customers is an important part of the value that we offer. Whether a customer from the past or a new opportunity in the future, we look forward to hearing from you. The genetics being offered by Advanced Beef Genetics represent our continued effort to breed genetically superior herd sire candidates that excel not only in genotype but also the physical attributes that can complement your cows and improve your calf crop. By utilizing many of the tools available today, such as embryo transfer and genomic testing, we can be more confident that these bulls will meet your high demands for satisfaction. You will note in the catalog that most of the bulls will have DNA results by sale time for coat color, polledness and low density genomic enhanced EPD s. We believe, as your genetic supplier, that by offering these evaluation tools you can make more informed decisions about where to invest your herd sire dollars. For us it is simple, provide you with the most trusted data and help take the guesswork out of your seedstock investment. The bulls have been developed at Lauritsen Cattle Company in Exira, Iowa under the guidance of Dr. Dan Larson from Great Plains Livestock Consulting. We think you will appreciate the manner in which the bulls have been developed. Much of the data including final yearling weights, ultrasound and genomic enhancements from DNA will be available prior to sale time on our website and at the sale. Based on this information we will see some changes in the bull data that is provided in this sale book, but any changes will add to the accuracy and confidence in these sire candidates. We understand that there are many places for the cow-calf operator to purchase herd sires. At Advanced Beef Genetics we are extremely excited about what SimAngus and the resulting heterosis can mean to the commercial producer. Do not hesitate to call Rex, Mike or Jon if you have questions about the value that these herd sire prospects can provide to your operation. Sincerely, Mike, Rex and Jon People. Performance. Profit will mark the beginning of something new and better for the founding owners of Advanced Beef Genetics. These operations have a history of commitment to genetic improvement and now with re-engineered emphasis on customer care and profit for the future, they are forging their way deeper into an ever more competitive beef business. Experience has value, but alone it may not be enough to ensure success moving forward. That is why the Henderson, Hoppes, Pearson and Rockhold families have joined forces to offer greater service and marketing options for their great customer base of the past and those in the future. SimGenetics have long been the centerpiece of these herds and that effort remains the priority. Offering high value, Simmental and SimAngus bulls with advanced levels of calving ease confidence, efficient performance and measureable end product value to meet the profitability needs of their down chain customers is job 1. A renewed commitment to customer satisfaction and service just finishes the promise and the increased the value proposition. On behalf of everyone associated with the inaugural Advanced Beef Genetics sale, we hope you will plan to be with us Feb. 28 at the Hoppes Farm just outside of Van Meter Iowa for the 1:00 sale. You ll find the same great bulls and genetics that customers have come to expect from these families and more. See you Sale Day, Marty Ropp Allied Genetic Resources Page 4

7 NIGHTRIDE SONS J BAR J NIGHTRIDE ASA# We sampled Nightride as a heifer bull with the anticipation that he would offer a lot more than calving ease and low birth weight. Nightride offers breed leading carcass and $ indexes in a pedigree that is different than most used SimAngus sires. He accomplished just what we anticipated, bet-the-ranch calving ease but we have been impressed with the substance and muscle his sons are exhibiting. Nightride will continue to see extensive use in the Advance Beef Genetics program based on our progeny experience to date. We are so impressed with this sire candidate that we purchased the dam to J Bar J Nightride 225Z in the Maternal Factory Donor female sale hosted by Allied Genetic Resources. The lot 1 and 2 bulls are great representatives of the value these cattle will offer. 8 ROBUST SONS GW ROBUST 605Z ASA# We sampled GW Robust 605Z after being really impressed with the bull when we saw him prior to the 2013 Gateway Simmental bull sale where he was the high selling individual. Robust offered genetic diversity to Advanced Beef with tremendous genetic value while being an individual that offered so many physical strengths. These calves came ease, showed tremendous vigor at birth and have grown fast since weaning. We have been so impressed with the Robust calves that we are actively using the sire in our embryo transfer program. We look for these herd sire candidates to add consistency and pay weight for those that choose these genetics. 9 TEN X SONS A A R TEN X 7008 S A ASA# AAR Ten X was our choice to flush the purebred donor, LRS Miss Keepsake 447P to and the resulting progeny have exceeded our expectations. The mating created high genetic value progeny that we felt would compliment the attributes of 447P. We were looking for an Angus sire that would add calving ease, performance and carcass merit in a proven package. As you will note, many of the standout SimAngus calves were the result of using AAR Ten X in the Advanced Beef Genetics program. A A R TEN X 7008 S A >> Sire of Lots 5 and 6. 11 SHEAR FORCE SONS HOOKS SHEAR FORCE 38K ASA# As the saying goes, you can never get too much of a good thing. This was the reason that we decided to AI again to the proven Shear Force bull with the desire to retain more of his productive females in our herd. Shear Force has sent the standard for genetic value, productive females and cattle that just work in commercial environments. The two sons selling offer that exceptional genetic value and the ability to take breed leading calving ease, carcass and $ indexes and put them to work in your programs. Page 10 EPD Rank B47 is moderate in frame, yet extremely powerful in his design and muscle expression. As noted with the lot 11 bull, we expect these United sired sons of R77 to add pay weight to a set of calves while retaining the maternal value of their highly proven and productive dam. B47 might be the most attractive of the six brothers and as his picture shows he does it with a tremendous amount of middle and power. The R77 progeny have always scanned well for both IMF and REA, it will be interesting to see if this set of United bull calves does the same. She has passed on tremendous end product value to many of her sons.

13 UNITED SONS LOTS Lots 13 thru 16 show how consistent this flush of United sons were from the TNT Miss R77 donor female. As was noted with lots 11 and 12, these sire candidates were mated to create powerful, growth oriented bulls that also offered maternal strength and high genetic value. Each of these full sib brothers offer some of the best genetics in Simmental today backed by the consistency of R77. All these brothers will have low density genomic enhanced EPD s available by sale day. 13 HRM UNITED B41 Homozygous Black Homozygous Polled 3/4 SM 1/4 AN Bull ASA # B41 BD: 3/2/2014 BW >> 88 BWR >> ET Adj. EPD Rank B66 is one of the true power bulls in the offering that still offers breed average calving ease and birth weight. You have to really appreciate this bull for the overall mass, thickness and true growth potential he has to put into a set of calves. Out of an outcross ¾ blood female that is a model SimAngus female, B66 s dam is moderate in her design, extremely easy keeping and has a great udder. We think lot 17 could add tremendous value to a set of terminal calves for the new owner. TEN X SONS LRS MISS KEEPSAKE 447P ASA# Lots 18 thru 27 show the value, consistency and performance of the progeny from LRS Miss Keepsake 447P. Lots 18 thru 22 as well as Lots 5 and 6 are sired by AAR Ten X and were mated to provide calving ease, performance and carcass merit. This mating has surpassed our expectations and offers some breed leading genetic value progeny. Lots 7, 28 and 29 are purebred progeny sired by GW Substance and 447P. We aimed for the progeny to excel in structural soundness, depth of body and marbling. 447P offers an outcross pedigree too many of the breeds most used sires and this mating only helps to offer something that is different from the rest of the Simmental gene pool. Lots 24 thru 27 are flush mate brothers sired by CCR Catalyst, the SAV Final Answer son that Cow Camp Ranches has used so successfully. These are extremely attractive bulls that carry a bit more eye appeal while still offering extremely high genetic values for API and TI. 18 CROSSROADS SONS LRS CROSSROADS 875Y ASA# LRS Crossroads 875Y was the high selling SimAngus bull that we selected in the 2012 Lassle Simmental Ranch bull sale as our replacement for GLS Combination R2. The Crossroads sired calves excel in growth, body dimension, outstanding feet and legs and adding pounds to a set of calves. You just cannot put more rib shape and volume in a set of calves than what Crossroads transmits. We feel the combination of maternal and terminal value that Crossroads offers makes these bull calves an easy fit for ranchers that are either selling heavy calves off the cow or retaining replacement females. There is no doubt that we are using Crossroads for his ability to sire growth and power but believe that his long term value will be the long lived daughters he will leave behind LRS CROSSROADS 875Y >> Sire of Lots HRM CROSSROADS B51 Heterozygous Black Homozygous Polled 5/8 SM 3/8 AN Bull ASA # B51 BD: 3/4/2014 BW >> 95 BWR >> 91 Adj.
