1 About Home Bound Healthcare s Wound Healing and Improvement Program (W.H.I.P.) Our wound care program is a specialty program that focuses not only on the healing and treatment of wounds, but on the overall wellbeing of our patients. Our team of nurses and therapists that are Certified Wound Care Specialists (WCC accreditation), and the teams of clinicians they lead, are perfectly positioned to help our patients and partners in the healthcare community to achieve success. We use the latest innovations in wound care certified treatment and therapeutic interventions to promote faster healing wounds and improved patient outcomes. Our W.H.I.P. Program is designed to: Provide patients with access to stateof-the-art treatment capabilities, in the comfort of home Develop personalized plans of care through the collaboration of doctors and our W.H.I.P. team Enhance patient well-being Expedite healing time Prevent complications Provide ongoing education and consultation on wound care Improve patient outcomes and patient satisfaction
2 Physical Therapy and Wound Care While many think of nursing when it comes to wound care, Physical Therapists play an important role in helping wounds to heal. The most common wounds treated by physical therapists are: Necrotic wounds Stage III, IV or unstageable pressure ulcers Diabetic wounds Chronic wounds Venous and/or arterial wounds Extremity wounds with edema Non-healing surgical wounds Our goal is to accelerate healing time, while encouraging the best possible outcomes for our patients. Wound Care Certification Credential Our W.H.I.P. Team Leaders are all certified by WCEI, the Wound Care Education Institute. Health care professionals who meet the eligibility requirements may sit for the prestigious Wound Care Certification (WCC ) and other exams. WCC is the largest network of Wound Care Certified clinicians nationwide.
3 Course Curriculum includes: Physiology of wound healing Factors which inhibit/enhance wound healing Wound assessment, measuring, staging, etiology, prevention Management/intervention, selection and utilization of topical therapy Management of vascular, arterial, and diabetic ulcers Other modalities of treatment: surgical intervention, hyperbaric oxygen, growth factors, electrical stimulation, hydrotherapy, topical negative pressure, skin equivalents, etc. Patient and family education/ counseling National healthcare issues Legal/ethical aspects, standards, quality care issues Coordination of services, multidisciplinary
