2 SCADA System IDS HIGH-LEIT NT Release 4.19 Release 4.19 of the ID HIGH-LEIT SCADA system combines stability and continuous improvement with innovative functions. Therefore, update customers have their familiar control system with significant improvements in many areas; new customers, on the other hand, acquire a new and cutting-edge SCADA system. The HIGH-LEIT development environment for graphic dialogues and scripting is now fully integrated. Various interface modules for further applications, including grid management (with shift log-function), GIS und EAI have been added to the product. The remodelling and expansion of functionalities for power topology and power grid calculation have been completed with this release. Operating Systems IDS HIGH-LEIT NT 4.19 supports the latest Windows operating systems. Windows 7 (32 und 64 Bit) is used for desktop computers and single-user terminals; Windows 2008 Server R2 (64 Bit) is used for control system-servers and terminal servers. Windows 2008 Server (64 Bit), Windows 2003 Server (32 Bit) and Windows XP professional (32 Bit) are still compatible, whereas the operating systems Windows NT, Windows 2000 as well as Windows VISTA are no longer supported by release Microsoft EXCEL 2010 (32 Bit) and EXCEL 2007 are used for Excel reports and Excel generating lists. IT-Security: HIGH-LEIT NT Server as System Service SCADA systems are no longer isolated applications but rather components of an extensive IT infrastructure. On the one hand, this circumstance simplifies the communication with other departments; on the other hand, however, it also implies increased safety requirements. These safety requirements are compiled in a whitepaper by the German Federal Association of the Energy and Water Industry (BDEW). To fulfil one of the central requirements of the BDEW whitepaper on IT security, the HIGH- LEIT NT server (release 4.19 and later) is designed as a windows system service which becomes automatically available during server boot-up. Until now, an operator with Windows administration rights had to be logged onto the server to start the control system server. In the new constellation, this is no longer necessary, thereby preventing almost entirely the inadvertent or wilful interference with the operating system by unauthorized persons.

3 Shift log Shift Log A shift log which accurately and concisely records all events in the course of a shift is now available as an optional function. All important events are recorded automatically or can be entered manually. The necessary information for the subsequent shift is compiled in a transfer report and can be saved revision-proof in a local directory or in a network access-enabled directory. The shift log function is part of the ACOS NMS Network Management Suite. ACOS NMS can be upgraded to a complete network management tool by means of further components. Specific functions are available for asset management and maintenance, for outage management and for order and workforce management. New Action Dialogues All HIGH-LEIT action dialogues have been completely revised and the operating logic is now more intuitive. From now on, interlocking checks, for example, (command interlocks, local,...) are checked before their execution during the output of a command. If a check fails, the action will be terminated with a status signal. The adjustment dialogue has been supplemented by input fields where the operator on site and the time on site can be entered. New command dialogue

4 Similar to release 4.18, all action dialogues can be adapted by means of a script editor (cf. VBA for MS Excel), allowing for simple, project-specific customizing. Adaptation via scripting can be done during start-up and is available even in the event of a release change. New Topology The topology module has been continuously improved with release 4.19, providing, amongst others, extended diagnostics and a more accurate representation of the power grid through the differentiation and nomination of single equipment types and the corresponding busbar sections. Thanks to the improved designation, it is possible to specify interlocking conditions more precisely. Load-Flow Calculation based on FGH INTEGRAL The module Power Grid Calculation has been completely updated as well and is now based on the calculation engine INTEGRAL developed by the German Forschungsgemeinschaft für Elektrische Anlagen und Stromwirtschaft e.v. (FGH). The new load-flow calculation is based on a convergence-safe Newton-Raphson algorithm. A reliable convergence of the load-flow calculation is an important prerequisite for efficient network management. Therefore, various measures have been implemented to ensure excellent convergence behaviour. For instance, coupled busbars, which are frequently connected to each other via very low impedances, are treated as one node in the actual calculation. Typified Switching Sequences Depending on the selected power line, the system automatically provides the available switching operations for selection and creates, at the touch of a button, the appropriate switching sequence, e.g. for line disconnection safety isolation and grounding fault isolation supply restoration busbar switchover in several outgoing circuits Preview Function for Switching Sequences In addition to test runs for switching sequences, it is now possible for the operator to take an advance look ( preview ) at the status of the network following the termination of a switching sequence. Visualization of load-flow calculation Furthermore, the latest techniques for shortcircuit current calculation based on the guidelines of IEC have been included. The HIGH-LEIT release 4.19 includes all correction methods of these norms. The calculation of short-circuit currents in HIGH-LEIT NT 4.19 takes place for all nodes according to the Takahashi method. This method is highly suitable to obtain a quick overview of shortcircuit currents in the entire network. The four fault types described in the VDE norm (3- pole, 2-pole and 1-pole errors, as well as 2- pole errors with ground contact) are calcu-

5 lated simultaneously, making the results of each fault type available for visualization. In addition to the calculation of individual errors at each node, HIGH-LEIT also enables a more precise analysis of a given fault. Through specifying a fault location, it is possible to calculate various different short-circuit situations. In such cases, voltages and currents can be determined across the entire network. In the context of the switch permit check, the system carries out overload, voltage limit and short-circuit strength checks prior to the execution of switching operations. In the event of limit violations, a warning signal is emitted and possible overloads as well as overvoltages and low voltages are displayed. Load flow- and short-circuit current calculations are available in the simulation mode, thereby enabling the modelling e.g. of modulus controls of transformers. Integration of GISMobil Within the context of Smart Metering, increasing amounts of information from the power grid are being measured and transmitted to the SCADA system. Through the integration of a GIS system containing network data, and through the interaction between GIS and the SCADA system, the current supply status of the l.v. network can be visualized individually for each building, thereby enabling the operator, for instance, to determine which service connections are affected by a fault in the m.v.- or l.v. power line. In a first step, the GISMobil system (from Infograph) was integrated into HIGH-LEIT. The interface allows, on the one hand, the transfer of switch setting changes from the medium voltage network to GISMobil and, on the other hand, the activation of a GISMobil client via a process display. Data exchange takes place via the EAI system ACOS X4. Since release 4.18, HIGH- LEIT has been integrated in the companywide data and process environment by means of this EAI system. The ACOS X4 interface also enables the integration of further GIS systems. 6 Archiving Since HIGH-LEIT NT release 4.18, eventcontrolled archives (EC archives) can be parameterized instead of seconds archives. This has the following advantages: on the one hand, memory space is saved during archiving, because archived values will be saved in the short-term archive area only if this value changes; on the other hand, this method ensures that there is no loss of data even with frequently changing process values. In the current release, EC archives have become even more user-friendly: EC Archive Statistics Frequently changing values of the EC archive lead to a huge increase in the size of EC archives. Therefore, a possibility has been found to determine which objects put a particular strain on the EC archive through frequent writing. Evaluation takes place via a new protocol type - the EC archive statistics. These statistics have the additional benefit of enabling the detection of any possible faults in the parameterization of the RTU. EC archive statistics Virtual Extreme Values for Arithmetic Values Flexible extreme-value archives can be created on the basis of EC archives. Instead of one single daily minimum resp. maximum value, it is now possible to condense and evaluate extreme values for different time patterns (e.g. lowest quarter-hour total as daily minimum). This function is also available for arithmetic values with the new release. Virtual extreme values Chronologically Correct Archiving of delayed IEC Telegrams Up to now, changes in process values, whose IEC telegrams arrived in the control system with a significant delay, were invariably rejected by the control system. In some cases, however, it is not wholly possible to avoid a delayed transmission of telegrams (e.g. in the case of process values which, as a rule, are transmitted only a few times every day). From release 4.19 onwards, HIGH-LEIT NT is capable of processing this type of IEC telegrams. Measured values and counter values are sorted in the minutes archive in their correct chronological order and event signals are recorded in the event log, thereby enabling e.g. the processing of process values from the EP30 data logger from Erwin Peters Systemtechnik, a subsidiary of IDS GmbH. In this application, however, no processing of process values (such as limit monitoring) takes place. The user can decide individually for each RTU how such cases shall be detected. For this purpose, we recommend to set a separate IEC cause of transmission in the private domain.

7 Further Innovations HIGH-LEIT NT s scope of functions has been rounded off by a number of minor expansions: Adaptable Event Report Filters Filters for event log reports have been made more flexible. Until now, it was necessary to store all criteria in the filter, and only the evaluation period could be specified by the operator during a call. The remaining criteria could only be changed by operators with the necessary access authorization. From now on, it is possible to use the parameter operator input as a filter criterion. This parameter can be specified by the operator when calling up the filter. shows the selected event signal at the centre of the static event log display. Archiving Tag for Limit Violation A tag in the archive marking a specific value indicates that that value was saved while a violation of warning or fault limits took place. If that value is displayed in a diagram, it is possible to change the colour of this trend section, and the corresponding tag appears in the curve description line. Automatic Dispatch of Reports via Reports created via the command list function can now be sent to a stored address as pdf-file. Advanced Review Function Event report with filter definition dialogue Leap to the Selected Signal The Review functionality enables the operator to analyze processes from the past by playing a sequence of archived process values like a video clip. So far, minute archives were used for this function. Through the integration of EC archives into the Review function, the operator is now able to generate historic analyses for all process values, with the finest possible resolution. When leaving the event display filter, the event display is set again to a dynamic status. This might cause an event that was being searched for by means of the event log filter to be no longer within the visible range of the event log display. So far, operators had to memorize the time of an event and enter it as a search parameter. Instead of this somewhat inconvenient method, it is now possible to select a message before switching off the filter. Thus, when the filter is switched off, the display is automatically arranged so that it

8 Advanced Connectivity The Connectivity function has also seen some major improvements: If a message is registered as the checkback signal of a command, the operator can use the command Go To... Event Log from the pop-up menu to filter the event log for the commands belonging to an event signal or for the checkback signals belonging to a command. Also, the Connectivity function is now available for group commands, switching programs and switching sequences. It is possible to carry out a filtering process according to a group command (switching program, switching sequence) via the command Go To... Event Log (pop-up command) and to branch out to the appropriate generating dialogue. Stations in a Line with different Gateways If a telecontrol line included several stations with different gateways (e.g. several GPRS stations with different gateway addresses in an IP subnetwork), users were faced with the problem that the SCADA system did not automatically assign the lines to the stations because the IP-address and subnet mask could only be entered once for each telecontrol line. This feature has been changed for the current release, thereby enabling the user to store the gateways at the outstation.
