7 Game Situations Start of Play NFHS - Host institution determines if field playable, after game starts referee decision; NCAA and FIFA referee determines if field playable to start and also after game starts Coin toss NFHS choice of goal or kick off, loser of toss has remaining choice; NCAA same as NFHS; FIFA must choose goal to attack, loser of toss always kicks off Players and Substitutes NFHS and NCAA - Specific times for either team or team in possession; FIFA any stoppage with referee permission of course there are local rules here NFHS either team - unlimited at end of period, goal, goal kick (must have reported), caution PLAYER MUST GO OUT, injury PLAYER MUST LEAVE IF TREATED OR REFEREE DEEMS INJURED, disqualification - but not for disqualified player, blood on player or uniform, any sign of concussion player removed and must be cleared to return by health care professional; team in possession sub must have reported throw-in or corner kick NCAA either team - end of period, goal, goal kick, player to leave for equipment (other team sub equal number), injury or caution (only players involved but other team may sub equal number), bleeding injury, blood on uniform, or concussion must be subbed but may return with medical approval with no charge for reentry; team in possession throw-in or corner kick (other team may also sub), goal keeper ejected may sub to put in a goal keeper other team may not sub NFHS sub becomes player when beckoned; NCAA first 85 minutes when beckoned, last 5 minutes clock stopped for winning team sub; FIFA when sub enters field NFHS once sub beckoned MUST enter; NCAA sub not required to enter but is charged with one reentry; FIFA no such rule NFHS no reentry restrictions; NCAA no reentry during 1 st half and overtime, one reentry during second half, GK allowed one reentry each period and OT; FIFA player may not reenter (of course local rules modify this) Minimum number 7 all to start and play, NFHS, if less, forfeit 2/9/2013 7
