1 Exam Instructions and Information: Read each question thoroughly and answer each question on the attached answer sheet using current USA Volleyball Domestic Competition Regulations and the Scoring Instructions. Team S refers to the serving team and Team R refers to the receiving team. When a team s serve or receive status is not relevant to the question, Team A or Team B is used to differentiate the teams. Assume there are no other conditions than those specifically mentioned in the question. For questions 1 through 46, read each situation carefully and indicate on the answer sheet whether the statement and/or action taken is True or False: 1. When completing the Officials section of the sheet, the names are entered last name, then first initial, using all upper-case letters (i.e., SMITH, J). 2. Time on the sheet is International time: 13: The Receiving team should have an X on the 1 st service round box in Column I. 4. The team that is listed on the left side of the sheet in Set 1 is given the designation of Team A. In set 2 this team will be Team B as they are on the right side of the sheet. 5. After the scorer receives the line-ups, no player changes may be made unless a regular substitution is used. 6. The scorer uses the score sheet to verify player positions for each team, as the second referee checks team line-ups on the court prior to the start of each set. 7. The team line-ups should be entered in pencil on the score sheet. 8. The Libero(s) Number(s) is recorded on the score sheet as well as the Libero Control Sheet. USA Volleyball Page 1 of 15

2 9. A Line-up sheet that is signed and submitted may be changed up to 1 minute before set time by the coach or floor captain without a substitution being charged. 10. Team A coach submits the line-up for Set 1 and all 3 sets have the line-ups filled out. Only Set 1 has the coach s signature. For Set 2 the scorer may enter the Team A line-up without the coach s signature. 11. In order for the Libero(s) to play anytime during the match, they must be listed on the Set 1 line-up sheet. 12. On Team A #6 subs for # 4. The Libero replaces #6 and when the Libero comes to the front row #4 comes in for the Libero. This is okay since both #4 and #6 are in that position. 13. If Team A is using only 1 Libero for the match, the second Libero box should be left blank. 14. The first of the two Liberos listed is the only Libero allowed on the court immediately after the second referee checks the line-up of Set 1 of the match. 15. At the end of the set the scorer should circle the last point scored in the Points column for each team. 16. Team A lists #2 and #4 as Liberos, in that order. After the second referee checks the line-up for Set 2, Libero #4 enters the set and the assistant scorer allows it. 17. When the captain is replaced by the Libero, the scorer should write the number of the replacement captain in the margin of the score sheet. 18. When an illegal Libero replacement is made, the assistant scorer waits until after the contact of the serve and then notifies the second referee of the fault. USA Volleyball Page 2 of 15

3 19. On Team B a Libero replaces player #10. After a few plays the 2 nd Libero replaces the first Libero. The assistant scorer should wait until after the contact of the serve to notify the second referee that this is an illegal Libero replacement. 20. Team A makes substitution Player #11 for Player #9. The substitution is also recorded on the Libero Control Sheet. 21. On the Libero Control Sheet in a Deciding set before the switch point, when a Libero exchange is made by the team on the left it is recorded only on the left side of the sheet. 22. On the Libero Control Sheet in a Deciding set before the switch point, when a substitution is made by the team on the left the Assistant scorer will record the substitution on the left side & far right side of the sheet. 23. Team A makes a substitution. Team B is then granted a time-out. At the end of the time-out, Team A may request an additional substitution. 24. The scorer informs the second referee when a team has used its 9 th, 10 th, 11 th, and 12 th substitutions. 25. Points scored on the serve are slashed; side-out points are circled in USAV scoring. 26. The Exit Score is the total number of points the server scored during that term of service. 27. The score when a Time-out is granted is always recorded in the time-out section by writing the score of the team that is requesting the time-out first followed by the score of the other team. 28. An exceptional sub counts as a team substitution and you should slash a number in the team substitution area. USA Volleyball Page 3 of 15

The substitution is recorded on the score sheet and play continues. 30. An illegal substitution is requested by team A. The scorer records the substitution and then allows the ball to be contacted for service before informing the R2 about the illegal substitution. 33. During the set Team B substitutes Player #6 for #2. Later in the set Player #8, who has not been in the set, is substituted for #6. The scorer notifies the second referee that this is an illegal substitution as it would result in three players in the same rotational position. 34. After the second referee whistles, recognizing a substitution by Team B, the scorer makes eye contact with the second referee, slashes the number of the exiting player and writes the number of the incoming player, records the current score with Team B s score first, slashes the next number in the team substitutions running tally, puts the pen/pencil down, and signals ready by raising both hands. 35. While the ball is out of play, Team A s head coach asks the scorer how many time-outs their team has taken. The scorer responds to the question because coaches are permitted to approach the scorer to request this information during a dead ball. 36. In a deciding set, prior to the teams switching sides, substitutions and time-outs taken by the team starting on the scorer s left are recorded only on the left side of the score sheet. When the teams switch sides the scorer should then transfer all the time outs, substitutions and slashed points to the far right. USA Volleyball Page 4 of 15

After the play ends, Team B is charged with an improper request. 44. In Set 1 Team B is assessed with an improper request.
