1 Schick USB Camera Installation Instructions Version: 10.0 Date Created: 8/29/03 Last Modified: 8/19/04 Filename: Schick USB Camera Installation.doc Required materials: Schick USB Camera Schick CDR Video Manager CD Windows 98 CD Required EagleSoft modules: Install on the following computers: Video Capture Any operatory workstation using the Schick USB camera 1. Load the Schick CDR Video Manager for DirectX and USBCam CD into the cdrom. If the Schick installation screen appears, click Exit to close. 2. Plug the Schick USB Camera into the computer before proceeding. **It is very important to follow these steps exactly as they appear for installing the drivers** **Three (3) drivers need to be installed for the camera to work properly** WINDOWS 98 ADD NEW HARDWARE INSTRUCTIONS STEPS 3-17: 3. The Add New Hardware screen should appear automatically once the camera is plugged in 4. Click Next

2 5. Leave the radio button on Search for the best driver and click Next 6. Check the box for Specify a location then click on the Browse button

3 7. Browse to the CD Drive and open the USBCam Driver folder on the CD. Click OK. 8. Back at the Specify a location screen, the path for the USBCam Driver on the CD should appear in the box. Click Next

4 9. Leave the radio button at The updated driver and click Next 10. Click Next and the driver information will be loaded. At this point, it may prompt for the Windows 98 CD.

5 11. If you receive a message stating the file being copied is older than the current file, click Yes to keep the existing file. You may receive this message several times for different files being loaded. 12. Click Finish. 13. The computer should automatically find the next Composite Device and take you into another Add New Hardware screen for the USB Audio Device. Follow steps 6-15 to add the USBCam Mic Driver. 14. Once the USB Cam Mic Driver is loaded, the computer should automatically find another Composite Device and take you into another Add New Hardware screen for the USB Video Device. Follow steps 6-15 again to add the USBCam Video Driver. 15. Once the 3 drivers have been installed, the Schick USB Camera should be loaded. 16. To verify the 3 drivers loaded properly, go to Start\Settings\Control Panel. Double click on the System icon and click on the Device Manager tab

6 17. Schick Technologies USBCam should appear under Imaging Device; Sound, video, & game controllers; and Universal Serial Bus controllers

7 WINDOWS 2000 ADD NEW HARDWARE INSTRUCTIONS STEPS 18-30: 18. The Add New Hardware screen should appear automatically once the camera is plugged in 19. Click Next 20. Leave the radio button on Search for a suitable driver and click Next

8 21. Check the box for Specify a location and click Next 22. Click on the Browse button. Browse to the CD Drive and open the USBCam Driver folder on the CD. 23. Click OK.

9 24. Click Next 25. Click Yes and the driver information will be loaded 26. Click Finish **The computer may attempt to add the following 2 drivers without going through the Add New Hardware wizard** 27. The computer should automatically find the next Composite Device and take you into another Add New Hardware screen for the USB Audio Device. Follow steps to add the USBCam Mic Driver. 28. Once the USB Cam Mic Driver is loaded, the computer should automatically find another Composite Device and take you into another Add New Hardware screen for the USB Video Device. Follow steps again to add the USBCam Video Driver. 29. To verify the 3 drivers loaded properly, go to Start\Settings\Control Panel. Double click on the System icon and click on the Hardware tab. Click on the Device Manager button.

10 30. Schick Technologies USBCam should appear under Imaging Device; USB Audio Device should appear under Sound, video, & game controllers; and USB Composite Device should appear under Universal Serial Bus controllers.

11 WINDOWS XP ADD NEW HARDWARE INSTRUCTIONS STEPS 31-39: 31. The Add New Hardware screen should appear automatically once the camera is plugged in 32. Leave the radio button on Install the software automatically and click Next 33. Click Continue Anyway and the driver information will be loaded

12 34. Click Finish **The computer may attempt to add the following 2 drivers without going through the Add New Hardware wizard. If so, the message in step 27 will appear once finished** 35. The computer should automatically find the next Composite Device and take you into another Add New Hardware screen for the USB Audio Device. Follow steps to add the USBCam Mic Driver. 36. Once the USB Cam Mic Driver is loaded, the computer should automatically find another Composite Device and take you into another Add New Hardware screen for the USB Video Device. Follow steps again to add the USBCam Video Driver. 37. Once the 3 drivers have been installed, the Schick USB Camera should be loaded and the following message will appear: 38. To verify the 3 drivers loaded properly, go to Start\Settings\Control Panel. Double click on the System icon and click on the Hardware tab. Click on the Device Manager button.
