Harmony Hill Nurseries is conveniently located at 45 Buck Road in Downingtown, Pennsylvania - just one mile North from the Route 30 bypass, 25 miles West of Philadelphia, in central Chester County. Our current catalogue of finished plant material will be complemented with a long list of new plants currently in the production pipeline and will be mature enough to sell in Fall, Please find the complete list on page 15. Harmony Hill Nurseries is run by a team of passionate horticulturists growing strong drought and disease tolerant trees in an exceptional soil medium of clay rock and loam for a premium package. 3

Height: Width: Zone: 4 9 Description: The Heritage Birch is characterized by its reddish to cinnamon exfoliating bark, boxer resistance, and fast growth rate. Size (Singles): Clump: cal cal. Acer rubrum October Glory Height: Width: Zone: 4 9 Description: Widely regarded as the best red maple cultivar. Unlike many red maples, October Glory fall color develops even when conditions are less than perfect and persists for several weeks cal cal. Amelanchier laevis Lamarki Height: Width: Zone: 4 8 Description: A multi-stem spring blooming tree that is very similar to A. Canadensis. Allegheny Serviceberry is less stoloniferous, which gives it a more uniform appearance. Fruit attracts birds. Excellent Fall color. 5-6 cal. 6-7 cal. October Glory Red Maple Lamarki Serviceberry Buxus sempervirens Height: Width: Zone: 5 8 Description: This classic edging evergreen, boxwood is one of a few plants that evidently hold little appeal for deer Buxus sempervirens suffruticosa Height: 4 5 Width: 1 3 Zone: 5 Description: The best dwarf Boxwood for small scale applications. Grows slowly at just 1 per year to reduce need for shearing in formal hedges, edges and topiary. Natural form is rounded with dense foliage and fine branching. Good dark green color. Constellation boasts large, spacious, floral bracts, and resists dogwood anthracnose and dogwood borer. Blooms after our native dogwood and before the kousa dogwood, giving a spectacular disease free flower display. 6-8 Crataegus viridis Autumn Glory Constellation Rutgers Dogwood Autumn Glory Hawthorne x Cupressocyparis leylandii Leyland cypress Height: Width: Zone: 5 10 Description: Probably the most important wind break or visual screen (after Pinus strobus) in the trade today; will grow in almost any soil condition, tolerates salt spray; can tolerate heavy pruning for hedging Height: Width: 8 10 Zone: 5 7 Description: Small, twiggy tree with rounded, dense head. Covered with clusters of single white flowers in spring. Leaves are glossy green. Bright fruit in fall, lasting well into winter cal. Crataegus Laevigata Pauls Pauls Scarlet Hawthorne Height: Width: Zone: 5 7 Description: Low branching, rounded top, flowers double scarlet with a stinge of rose. Very showy. Fraxinus pennsylvanica Cimmaron Height: Width: Zone: 3 9 Description: More narrow and upright than some of it s Fraxinus cousins, the Cimmaron Ash is a sturdy tree for an urban or rural environment. Fall colors are a brilliant warm red with thick, dark green foliage in the spring. Quick growth will cast shade on hot spots in no time. 8 Fraxinus pennsylvanica Patmore Height: Width: Zone: 3 8 Description: Makes a good selection in either an urban setting or to produce shade and some great fall color for the backyard. Fall color is a bright, attractive yellow that will bring attention to it no matter where it is in a yard. Adaptable to moist soil conditions Patmore Ash Hibiscus syriacus Height: 6 8 Width: 5 6 Zone: 5 Description: A group of upright shrubs or small trees with medium green foliage turning yellow in the fall. It may be used as a deciduous hedge or accent piece, providing a long period of profuse blooms from summer into early fall. Single or double flowers of whites, pinks, lavenders, blues and purples. An old fashioned standard in the landscape Rose of Sharon Gleditsia triacanthos inermis Shademaster Shademaster Thornless Honeylocust Height: Width: Zone: 4 9 Description: This thornless Honeylocust has symmetrical ascending branches that create an almost rectangular outline. Shademaster s branching makes it easy to maintain as a street tree. Most honeylocusts drop their leaves early; the thick dark foliage of Shademaster holds on later into the fall. Typical of the species, it is salt tolerant, high ph tolerant and extremely adaptable. Attractive fissured bark and zigzag twigs provide winter interest and texture cal cal. Laburnum x Watereri Height: Width: 8 12 Zone: 5 11 Description: Reminiscent of Wisteria, these trees pendulous, bright yellow flower clusters grow up to 20 inches long. Olive-green bark and bright green compound leaves add to their ornamental beauty. Their brown leathery pods last until winter. Excellent as accent trees in mass plantings. However, plant where children and animals cannot reach toxic seeds and 3-part leaves. Tolerates city conditions cal. Golden-chain tree 8

9 Malus floribunda Japanese Flowering Crab Height: Width: Zone: 4 8 Description: M. floribunda is the standard to which all other crabapples are compared. It is one of the oldest and most popular crabapples in cultivation. Deep reddish pink buds open to a white flower. Fruit is devoured by birds. Picea abies Norway Spruce Height: Width: Zone: 3 Description: Rapid growing large pyramidal evergreen with dark green foliage. Graceful, arching branches with age. Excellent for screening or a stand alone Christmas tree-like specimen. 6-8 Malus Profusion Profusion Crabapple Height: Width: Zone: 4-5 Description: Beautiful purplish red flowers with pink centers in spring. Noted for its abundant flowers. Bronze-green foliage. Excellent disease resistance. Platanus x acerifolia Bloodgood Bloodgood London Planetree Height: Width: Zone: 4 8 Description: Bloodgood London Planetree resists the anthracnose that has affected many of our native sycamores. Bark exfoliates with patches of cream, brown and light green giving it a very attractive mottled look. Large 8 to 10 leaves provide ample shade during summer. Very tolerant of many soil types, soil compaction, and salt spray. Malus Radiant Radiant Crabapple Height: Width: 20 Zone: 4 8 Description: This tree puts on a spectacular spring show. It produces 1/2 inch bright red fruits in the fall. The new foliage has a reddish tint which ages to green. Its deep red buds open to deep pink blooms. 10 Prunus x Snofozam Snow Fountains Cherry Height: Width: 15 Zone: 4 8 Description: Small weaping tree with heavy production of white flowers, during peak flowering period it appears as fountain of white. Perfect dwarf specimen weeping cherry. Prunus subhirtella Autumnalis Autumn Flowering Cherry Height: Width: Zone: 4-8 Description: This tree blooms lightly during warm autumn days and profusely in spring. Dark pink buds open to soft semi-double pink flower. Small and light textured foliage. Fine but heavily branched tree cal cal cal. Prunus cerasifera Thundercloud Thundercloud Purpleleaf Plum Height: Width: Zone: 4 Description: Terrific landscape tree with dark coppery-purple leaves; the foliage coloring holds through the season. Fragrant pale pink to white blooms. Bears small red fruit. Considered the best purple plum as rich color persists into early fall. Prunus serrulata Kwanzan Kwanzan Flowering Cherry Height: Width: Zone: 5 8 Prunus subhirtella Pendula Height: Width: Zone: 5-8 Description: The most popular weeping flowering tree. It is covered with clouds of showy pink flowers in April cal cal cal. Weeping Higan Cherry Description: Widely regarded as the best double flowering cherry, P. Kwanzan (along with P. yedoensis) has made the Washington D.C. cherry blooms famous. Heavy, massive display of double deep pink flowers cal cal cal. 10

Upright and more open spreading habit cal cal. Yoshino Flowering Cherry Pyrus calleryana Cleveland Select Height: Width: Zone: 5 Description: A distinctive conical form makes this a great choice for street or yard planting. Gleaming white blooms in spring. Glossy green foliage changes in fall to purplish-red orange. Cleveland Callery Pear Salix babylonica Babylon Weeping Willow Height: Width: Zone: 6-8 Pyrus calleryana Aristocrat Height: Width: Zone: 5-8 Description: The branching on the Aristocrat is more open angled and less susceptible to breakage than other P. calleryana selections. Abundant white flowers in the spring and attractive purple-red to orange fall color cal cal. Aristocrat Callery Pear Description: Great for use as a focal point and in areas that are moist. Has a broad rounded crown of branches that weep to the ground. Many consider this tree to have the best form of the weeping willows available in commerce. Branchlets are typically green or brown. Salix matsudana, Tortuosa Corkscrew Willow Height: Width: Zone: 6-9 Description: A fast growing, upright, deciduous tree, with curiously twisted shoots. Leaves are bright green, lance-shaped, and also twisted. Bears yellowgreen catkins. A very striking tree, especially in winter cal. Phone: Fax:

12 Syringa reticulata Ivory Silk Ivory Silk Tree Lilac Height: Width: Zone: 3 7 Description: A compact and sturdy tree selection that bears abundant, large, creamy white flower clusters. The fragrant blooms occur at an early age but appear much later in the season compared to the common lilac. Zelkova serrata Green Vase Green Vase Zelkova Height: Width: Zone: 5 8 Description: Green Vase somewhat resembles the vase shape of American Elms, is more upright in habit and tolerant of pollution, makes a great city street tree. Zelkova is often listed as a replacement for American Elm cal cal. Thuja x Green Giant Height: Width: Zone: 2-8 Description: A vigorous trouble free evergreen with glossy green foliage. Requires very little pruning to retain its shape. Withstands drought conditions once established. A U.S. National Arboretum introduction. 6-8 Wistera frutescens Amethyst Falls Green Giant Arborvitae Wisteria Amethyst Falls Zelkova serrata Village Green Height: Width: Zone: 5 8 Description: Village Green somewhat resembles the vase shape of American Elms, is tolerant of pollution, makes a great city street tree and produces a shorter and wider tree than Green Vase Zelkova ( Village Green is reportedly more cold tolerant than Green Vase. Zelkova is often listed as a replacement for American Elm since it has roughly the same vase shape cal. Village Green Zelkova Height: Width: none Zone: 5-9 Description: A beautiful repeat bloomer with vivid lavender purple flowers, produced in 6 to 8 inch compact racemes on the terminals of new growth. The slightly fragrant blooms even appear on one-year old plants. Will repeat flower in mid and late summer. Compact, shrubby and slower grower than other Wisteria s. Spring flowering occurs from April into May with background of gray-green compact foliage

13 Conditions of Sale PRICES: The prices in this list cancel all previous lists. They are based on current market conditions and are subject to change without prior notice. TERMS: All prices shown are F.O.B. Harmony Hill Nurseries; any delivery costs are additional. All orders are C.O.D. until credit previleges are approved. Upon credit approval, our terms are 2% discount for payment within 10 days, net 30 days. If payment, in full, is not made within terms, any discounted prices will revert to catalog pricing. Overdue accounts are subject to a 1½% per month (18% per annum) service charge, plus cost of collection. We now accept Visa and Mastercard for your convenience. Orders are booked in anticipation of normal growth of stock, and with the understanding that we shall not be held liable in the event of crop loss, errors in count, or damage from other causes. It is our goal to get your order to you as close to your desired schedule as we can manage. We will communicate with you as often as necessary to achieve this goal. Once your order has been dug or assembled, we ask that you accept delievery as agreed, or arrange to pick up your order within 10 days of notification that it is ready. In addition to getting your plants to you in the best possible condition, this will allow us to best utilize our limited order holding area in meeting our other shipping commitments. CANCELLATIONS: You must notify us in writing of any cancellations four weeks in advance of shipping date. Cancellations after that time are subject to a 10% charge of original order amount. If you cancel your order after it has been dug, you are responsible for the total value of the plant material, and will be invoiced accordingly. PATENTED PLANTS: All plants shown with plant patent numbers (PP#) have been grown under license from patent owners. Asexual propagation or reproduction of these cultivars without express permission of the plant patent owner violates United States patent laws, and will subject the violator to prosecutions or patent infringement under those laws. FREIGHT: Freight charges are invoiced separately from plant material charges, and are Net C.O.D.. Most trucking companies allow two hours for unloading. If additional time is required to unload, you will be charged for it at the rate used by the trucking company involved. Please take note that the shipping charge covers delivery only. Unloading is the customer s responsibility. The truck driver is not required to assist in the unloading procedure. PICK-UP ORDERS / SHIPPING YARD: When picking up a load, be sure to bring tarps or suitable coverings to protect the plants on your truck. Loading hours: Monday Friday 7:30-4:00; no loading between 12:00-12:30. Saturday: Please call in advance. CLAIMS: We value your business, and we want you to be satisfied in every way with the plants you receive from us. We welcome any comments you may have regarding our quality and service so that we may continue to improve them. Any claims for breakage, incorrect counts or plants in poor condition must be written on the bill of lading, signed by the customer or his agent and submitted to the carrier when the plants are received. The Nursery must also be notified in writing by mail or fax of any problems within 3 days after the plants are received. Failure to make a claim on the bill of lading shall constitute a waiver of claim. In no circumstance is the cost of freight credited by the Nursery. Additional questions about claims should be directed to your Sales Representative or the Sales Manager or the ADC Manager. We cannot entertain any claims that do not meet these requirements. In any case, no claims will be considered regarding orders that have not been paid for in full, according to the terms specified at the time of shipment. Questions about disputed amounts should be directed to the Sales Manager or ADC Manager. The original price of any plant material for which a claim is made shall be the maximum amount in damages for that claim. 19 HHN Grows and Transplants Large Trees We grow Specimen shade, flowering, and ornamental trees to 10 inch caliper or large evergreens to 30 feet. If we don t have your tree at our nursery in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, we can normally find it through our network of local growers. We will also transplant trees on your sites and over the road. Pictured above is a 75 year old Japanese Cutleaf Maple being moved during a custom digging job. HHN has the ability to move 1 inch to 14 inch caliper trees using state of the art equipment including 6 tree spades from our 34 and 40 inch loader mounted to our 50 inch and Big John 90 inch truck mounted spades. We also custom hand dig for trees over 10 inch caliper.
