3 AUBERGE Inspired by the feeling of a sophisticated French inn, the Auberge collection is cozy and comfortable, yet chic and sophisticated, too. By updating the cottage style s time-worn appeal to feel more elegant, signature pieces don t come across as too new, but as integral and significant. The collection catches the eye with an unusual mix of fabrics and finishes, and since many pieces feel like found items, they also mix easily with existing pieces. French inspirations dominate, but cleaner Swedish and English forms are evident throughout. Poplar solids with maple veneers come in a painted Vintage White finish, while solid oak forms are featured in Weathered Oak finish. Most are distressed to create an antiqued look, while pieces wrapped in linen add a touch of softness. 26 SIGNATURE ELEMENTS INSPIRATION Serving as an updated version of cottage style, the collection mixes French influences with the cleaner and simpler sensibilities of Swedish and English forms to create pieces that look like found items, and exhibit tons of character. WOOD & FINISHES Poplar solids and maple veneers feature a memorable Vintage White finish, which has been painted and distressed for an antiqued feel. A worn Weathered Oak finish on solid oak looks like it has aged over time, and is just as striking. ARTISTRY Like with many Bernhardt collections, shapes are sophisticated and feature authentic design inspiration. Some have subtle but shapely scalloping, a few pieces possess a bombay shape, and others have pilasters along their sides. ACCENTS A meticulous attention to detail is evident through touches like nailhead trim, metal bases in cast iron, antique mirror, linen fabrics, and decorative wood paneling in the back of case pieces. Every element has been finely crafted. Vintage White HARDWARE Detailed scrolling hardware in quatrefoil shapes features a blackened cast iron finish.
