1 Clifton-Clyde High School Animal Science Course Length: Hours, 1 Credit Grade Level: Prerequisites: None Teaching Resources: Animal Science Curriculum Materials, Texas A&M Univ. Guide to Livestock Judging, Kansas State University Course Description: This course is designed as a college prep program for any biological and/or related area of study. Animal Science is an in-depth look into what makes up the animal, caring for animals, and marketing a final product. We will study the major body systems, such as: skeletal, muscular, circulatory, respiratory, nervous, urinary, endocrine, and digestive systems. Other areas of study include nutrition, animal health, diseases and parasites, animal reproduction, and marketing. We will also prepare and compete in the FFA Livestock Evaluation CDE and Meats CDE. With the lecture of the class we will also have several lab activities and some dissection. Course Outline: The Importance of Livestock and Poultry Management A. Factors that make up animal health B.
