2 Admission Modalities The admission modalities are with reference to the MA (Financial Economics) Program ( ) offered by Faculty of Social Sciences, IFHE. Eligibility Graduates in the disciplines of Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Science, Commerce, Management and Engineering (English medium) with minimum of 55% marks are eligible. Final year students awaiting results in the above mentioned disciplines are also eligible. At least the applicant must have studied mathematics at the higher secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent mathematical ability. Those having non-economic background has to undergo preparatory classes in Economics. Applicants who have appeared for final year graduation examination and awaiting results are also eligible to apply provided they complete their examinations (including practical examinations) before July 04, The admission of applicants will, however remain provisional until they produce marksheets establishing their eligiblity. The last date for submitting the proof of marksheets is November 01, 2011, failing which the provisional admission will automatically stand cancelled. Admission Calendar Last Date for Submission of Completed Application Form May 16, 2011 Interviews at Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and New Delhi June 2-7, 2011 Admission Decision June 2-7, 2011 Last date for payment of admission fee June 15, 2011 Last date for payment of first semester fee June 30, 2011 Registration for Semester I and Verification of Originals July 04, 2011 Commencement of Classes for Semester I July 04, 2011 Eligible applicants are required to apply for the program using the Application Form (given on page 5) and the shortlisted candidates will be called for interview and admission decision is conveyed on the same day. Due weightage is given to academic distinctions, achievements in sports and extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Interviews The shortlisted candidates will be called for interview from June 2-7, 2011 at Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and New Delhi. The interview for each candidate will be completed in one day. The interview panel will focus on testing the attitude, aptitude and aspiration of the candidates. The admission decision will be communicated immediately after the interview. All the selected candidates will be required to pay the admission fee on or before June 15, Original certificates should be produced for verification at the time of interview along with one photocopy. The original certificates will be returned after verification. 2 2

3 Admission Fee Admission fee of ` 5,000 is to be paid by all the selected candidates as indicated in the Admission Calendar. Program Fee The program fee is ` 25,000 per semester. Students pay the fee at the beginning of each semester, as per the due dates which will be indicated in the Student Handbook. The first semester fee is to be paid on or before June 30, Hostel and Mess Facilities (Optional) IFHE provides hostel facilities for outstation candidates. Such students are required to pay the hostel fee, hostel deposit and mess charges separately. Caution Deposit Students are required to pay a caution deposit of `5,000 payable along with the first semester fee. This deposit is towards use of library books, computers, labs and other facilities. The caution deposit will be refunded without interest (and after adjusting for dues, if any) to the students on completion of the program. Alumni Society Membership Fee Students are required to pay an Alumni Society Membership Fee of ` 5,000, payable along with the fourth semester fee. Remittance All payments should be made by way of Demand Draft drawn in favor of IUCF A/c IFHE, payable at Hyderabad. Bank Loans Several public and private sector banks provide educational loans to IFHE students. Applicants seeking educational loans are required to approach the respective bank branches.
