2 1. Introduction Thank you for using ViseeO MB-3 Bluetooth Upgrade Adapter for Mercedes Benz. Upgrading software and firmware on your ViseeO handsfree kit couldn t be easier. This instruction is designed to assist you completing the upgrade processes step by step. Please read all sections of the instruction booklet before starting to upgrade the unit. 2. Suitable Product Model The following model is suitable for using this upgrade instruction: ViseeO MB-3 3. Types of Upgrades There are two types of upgrades that can be implemented on MB-3: 1. CPU software (regarding the operation of the device) 2. Bluetooth firmware (regarding the phone compatibility) 4. Upgrade Requirements Types of upgrade Hardware required Software required CPU Software 1. Computer with XP, Vista, and Windows USB 2.0 port. 3. ViseeO Upgrade Cable for MB-3 (included in the package). 1. ViseeO Upgrade Platform. 2. ViseeO Upgrade Cable driver. 3. MB-3 CPU software update. Bluetooth Firmware 1. Computer running XP, Vista or Windows Built-in Bluetooth or external Bluetooth dongle. 1. CK Upgrade Platform. 2. CK software update. 2

3 5. Installing the CPU Upgrade Cable Driver (Please skip this section if you have already installed driver for ViseeO Upgrade Cable) ViseeO CPU Upgrade Cable for MB-3 Before you can use the ViseeO Upgrade Cable to upgrade CPU software your computer must recognize it first by installing the cable driver to it: STEP 1: Download the CPU Upgrade Cable Driver from our website s download zone: Note: The download Username and Password are both: customer. STEP 2: Unzip the file and double click on PL2303_Driver_XP2K_v exe ( PL2303_Prolific_Vista_ for Windows Vista or Prolific_Driver_Win7_V110 for Windows 7) to install the driver. STEP 3: Once the program is installed plug the USB connector into your computer. As soon as it is connected Windows should show a new hardware found message and Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port hardware automatically installed. STEP 4: Remove the cable from the computer and follow the upgrade instruction in Section 8. 3

Download and Installing ViseeO Upgrade Platform (Please skip this section if you have already installed a ViseeO Upgrade Platform before) STEP 1: Please download the ViseeO Upgrade Platform from the download section of ViseeO s official website at: Note: The download Username and Password are both: customer. STEP 2: Unzip the file and double click on ViseeoSetup.exe to begin the installation. Follow all steps required to complete the installation. This program will create a short-cut icon on your desktop named Viseeo Bluetooth Upgrade Platform. Viseeo Bluetooth Upgrade Platform Icon 7. Download the Updates (Please check the software version on your MB-3 against the version number of the download software before installation) You can download the CPU software updates from our website download zone ( Please note that if you require CPU software update you should download MB-3 CPU Software Update. Please locate and rename the file before you save it so you can find it easily. After download the file you will need to unzip the file in order to use it. NOTE: 1. The download Username and Password are both: customer; 2. Internet button on the upgrade platform which is designed to auto search the driver on Internet is currently unavailable. This button is currently not available for use 4

5 8. Installing the CPU Software Updates ViseeO CPU Upgrade Cable for MB-3 STEP 1: Plug the 10-pin connector into the CPU upgrade socket at the back of the MB-3. Make sure it is connected as the picture shown below. Gently plug the 10-pin connector into the CPU upgrade ports in the direction as shown STEP 2: Plug the USB connector into your computer. Attention!! Please make sure you plug the 10-pin connector into MB-3 before you connect to your computer s USB port. Plug the CPU upgradeable USB connector into your computer 5

6 STEP 3: Double click the Viseeo Bluetooth Upgrade Platform icon on your desktop to open up the program. STEP 4: Choose CPU and click Next to continue. STEP 5: Click Search. The computer will automatically search if your upgrade cable is at the right COM port number. 6

7 Step 5 Step 6 Trouble Shooting!! ViseeO Upgrade Platform will only work with COM Port 2~7. If the upgrade platform does not recognize the right COM port please make sure the CPU Upgrade Cable Driver is installed correctly (see Section 5). Once the driver is installed and the cable is connected to your computer it should be displayed in the Port (COM & LPT1) section of the hardware list of your Windows Device Manager (see Appendix). STEP 6: Click Local to browse and choose the latest CPU software update (.bin format file) you have just downloaded from ViseeO s website (See Section 6 Download and Installing ViseeO Upgrade Platform for further information). STEP 7: Click Burn to begin upgrading your software. When the Status Bar reached 100%, a message indicating that the CPU software has been upgraded successfully will pop up. Press OK to close this message and then click Cancel to close the program. Attention!! Please do not unplug the cable before you click the OK on the message window displaying the software update is successful. Trouble Shooting!! If status bar does not progress at all or if you see the message showing Progress.0% COM Port Timeout please make sure that you have plugged the 10 pin connector of the ViseeO Upgrade Cable to the MB-3 first before you plug the USB 7

8 connector to the computer port. Secondly, please make sure the COM Port for the ViseeO Upgrade Cable is between 2~7. If not please change it manually (see Appendix). STEP 8: Unplug the USB from your computer first before you unplug the 10-pin connector from your MB-3. Now you are ready to take the MB-3 to your car for use. NOTE: After you have updated the CPU software you must master reset the unit first and go through the pairing again. To master reset the unit please refers to the MB-3 User Instruction Manual Section 7.3 Factory Default Setting (Master Reset) for further information. Step 7 9. Checking MB-3 s Software & Firmware Version Once update is completed the new software version number can be found on your MB-3. You can check the version number in one of MB-3 s OLED display menu items. To check the version number please refer to the MB-3 User Instruction Manual Section 7.4 Firmware Update and Version Check for further information. 8

9 APPENDIX - Manually Configure COM Port for CUP Upgrade Cable If your CPU upgrade cable is assigned a COM port number larger than 7 it will become unrecognizable therefore, you will need to manually configure the COM port number so it can work properly. First you need to check the COM port number: STEP 1: Go to Control Panel and open up System properties. STEP 2: Select the Hardware tab. STEP 3: Click Device Manager. Go to Ports (COM&LPT1) section and expand it. It should display all the COM ports and LPT ports in use. Please check if Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port s COM port number is larger than 7. STEP 4: If COM port number is larger than 7, right click this item and select Properties. STEP 5: Select Port Settings tab. Click on Advanced and in the COM Port Number section change the number to any number between 2~7 as long as that port number is not in use. STEP 6: Click OK when you have changed the number. STEP 7: Click OK again to close the Port properties Windows. STEP 3 STEP 6 Change to COM 3 for instance, as COM 1 is already in use.
