1 17 th Rower's Revenge Triathlon Sunday 2nd October 2011, 8:00am - 1:00pm NEW Sprint Distance m Row, 23.4km Bike, 5km Run Standard Distance m Row, 23.4km Bike, 5km Run 2011 Competitor Notes Thank you for entering the Rowers' Revenge Triathlon, we hope you have a good day. Please read the attached notes as they will help to make your day more enjoyable. Getting to Marlow: - Marlow is best approached from either Jct4 of the M40 or Jct8/9 of the M4. Both take you onto the A404 (Marlow Bypass). Follow this to the Bisham roundabout and head through Bisham to Marlow Bridge. Cross over the bridge and turn left at the mini roundabout into Pound Lane. Higginson Park can be accessed either from the public car park at Court Garden Leisure Centre or by carrying on another 100m and turning left into the cricket club. Car Parking We hope to provide parking on the football pitch behind the cricket ground/sports centre. If we are unable to do this, parking will be available in the public car park. Alternative parking is available behind Waitrose (Over Marlow Bridge, up the High Street, turn left, right and then right.) No parking will be available at the rowing club. Registration Registration will take place between 7:30 and 10:15. Here you will be issued with your race numbers and be body marked. You must have your numbers visible (front and back) at all times during the race. If we cannot see your number, you may not get a time. Bike numbers are also used for security and will be removed and checked against your race number when leaving the transition area after the race. Approximate wave start times will be published on the website and at registration. Waves will start approx. every 5-10 minutes with approx. 10 athletes per wave. There will be competitors' briefings by the rowing machines next to the marquee at least 15 minutes before your Wave Start time. Please make sure that you attend this briefing to pick up any last minute details, that might not be on these briefing notes. Transition will close at 30 minutes after the last competitors have finished; any bikes left after this time will be unsecured.

2 Transition To help with security, only competitors with numbers will be allowed in transition. Please use the number provided at registration to label your bike and keep your vest number to enable collection of your bike after the race. There are 3 access points to the transition area Ergo In, Bike Out/ In, Run Out and are to be used only during the competition. The transition area is divided into zones each specific to a particular range of competitor numbers. Whilst we will do our best to keep your bike secure, we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage. Facilities Toilets are available through the Court Garden café. Food and hot drinks are available from both Court Garden's café and the park vendor. Relay Teams Each team will be need a NUMBER BELT which have to be handed over from one team member to another where the bike is racked in the transition area. The bike must be racked at the time of handover. ERGO ROWING 2km & 4km Please be ready in the Ergo queue 5 minutes before your allocated start time. A limited number of rowing machines may be available for those wishing to warm up before racing. The race marshal will direct you to the machines to be used by your wave. The row is either a 2000m or a 4000m. A marshal will set your ergo clock and make a note of your time when you have finished, but you will also get an automatic electronic time taken, when you run over the timing mat. Once you have finished leave the ergos and make your way to the transition area. BIKE COURSE 23.4km Please make sure that you understand the bike course instructions below. Your bike must be safe and road worthy. Bikes will be checked when they go into transition and if they are not road worthy will be directed to be repaired. You will not be allowed to start until the bike is repaired. YOU MUST WEAR AN ANSI/SNELL/BSI APPROVED HELMET; this must be fastened before removing the bike from it s racked location and not taken off until the bike is re-racked. In addition the use of ipods or any musical devices are strictly prohibited throughout the bike stage. Bikes must be racked correctly or a time penalty will be imposed. Numbers should be clearly visible. Bikes cannot be ridden until out of the park gate. When returning you must dismount before entering the park.

3 The cycle is 23.4km. The route takes you from the park turning left into Pound Lane. Pass one roundabout and then stay on this road until you meet the main T-junction with the Henley Road. You must slow down and listen to the marshall(s) that will let you know if the road is clear. Failing to do as the marshal instructs will impose an automatic 2 minute penalty, plus a potential accident with a car, so please take due care. Turn left onto the Henley/ Marlow Road and follow the road 11.5km where you will reach the outskirts of Henley and a roundabout. Turn 180 degrees at this roundabout and head 11.5km back a long the Henley/ Marlow road back the point at the bottom of hill, where you turn right back into Pound Lane before turning right into the park. NOTE:- This is the only major right hand turn on the bike course, and you must again listen to the marshall(s). When approaching the right hand turn, follow the Highway Code, and look behind you, listen and then place your right hand out to indicate that you are going to be turning right. If there is any on coming traffic, it is advised that you stop on the left hand side of the road and wait until it is clear. Failing to carry out these instructions will have an automatic 2 minute penalty or disqualification. You must dismount before entering the park. Re-rack your bike back at its original position (before removing your helmet) and proceed to the run exit at the far end of transition. Drafting and side-by-side riding are not permitted. A distance of 10m must be maintained behind the front wheel of the rider in front except when overtaking. When overtaking, the manoeuvre must be completed within 30 seconds. If overtaken you should drop back. BTA rules will be on display at the information desk and mobile marshals will be around the course.

4 Run Course Due to the popularity and feedback from last year s event, we have decided to currently leave the run at 5km. The run is 5km. Your number must be clearly visible on your front at all times. Leave transition by the run exit and run out the same direction as the bike out through the gates and turn left onto Pound Lane. Carry on following Pound Lane for exactly 1km to the end. When you meet the Henley Main Road (exactly the same way as you went out on the bike), turn left for 100 metres and then left again down Harleyford Lane. Follow this road for another 1km, until you turn naturally left and through kissing gates on the left (this is a private road and please respect the owners land by trying not to drop gels on the floor) Continue following the main road until you reach the river Thames. Turn Left when you get to the tow path and follow the tow path for the final 2km directly back to Marlow Higginson Park. As soon as you reach the park, turn left and follow the signs to the finish which is circa 200 metres away opposite the cricket pavilion. Finish and Results There will be water and a goody bag just beyond the finish. Full results will be available shortly after the last competitor has finished. They will also be available on who are the official media partner for F3 Events, plus on Results can be copied for your own personal use and club websites, plus results will be sent out on a newsletter.

5 Prize giving Prize giving will be outside the cricket pavilion at approx. 1pm, or earlier if we can manage it. Prizes will be provided for Overall 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd Male & Female and 1 st placed age group categories for 20+, 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+ for both male and female. There are also Team prizes. These are generic team prizes and there are not prizes for mixed team, just overall teams. Spectators Spectators are not allowed in the transition area. The start, transition and finish can all be viewed in the park. Food and drink is available in Higginson Park. When moving about during the race, be very wary of competitors and do not cross the race route. The park can be very busy on a good day, please take care between transition and the park entrance.
