30 ROSLINDALE: SUMMARY of MAJOR FINDINGS POSITIVE Adolescent Birth Rate - The Roslindale birth rate for adolescents ages in 2005 (113 births per 1,000 females ages 15-17) 17) was 38% lower than the Boston rate. It was also lower than the rates for Massachusetts and the e US overall. ED Intentional Injury Visits In 2005, Roslindale youth and young adults had less than 5 visits each to hospital EDs for intentional injuries due to guns or sharp objects like knives. CHALLENGES Low Birthweight Births - Although the 2005 low birthweight birth rate for Roslindale (8% of births) is about 20% lower than for Boston infants overall, it is still substantially higher the Healthy People 2010 target of no more than t 5%. Asthma Hospitalization Rate Although the Roslindale asthma hospitalization rate for children under age 5 (6 hospitalizations per 1,000 pop.) ) was 25% lower than the rate for Boston children, it is still higher than the Healthy y People 2010 target of no more than 2.5 hospitalizations per 1,000 pop.
