1 Outline Juicy Couture Global Standard Testing Protocol Apparel January 2011 Normal Consumer Goods Import Procedure China Standardization System Labeling Requirements Technical Requirements of Apparel Quality Control (QC) Focus Laboratory Services Support Question & Answer 1 2 China Introduces New Policy on Imported Textile Products Background The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) of the People s Republic of China has recently taken a new approach regarding imported textile products. The new policy would apply 100% supervised testing on more than 300 different imported textile products. At this time, it appears that this testing requirement would be effective as of January The China Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau (CIQ) is the agency responsible for overseeing product quality during "import" and "export". Once the above mentioned policy is implemented, CIQ will perform the "100% supervised testing on more than 300 different textile products that are imported to China. China Introduces New Policy on Imported Textile Products Highlights According to our current understanding, imported textile products will be subjected to standard GB National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products testing for all colors and to standard GB Labeling Requirements for Apparel Commodities in China for label review. Note: Products Made in China will not be covered by this new policy. If the product fails to meet these requirements, and if the product has already been distributed to the market, the distributor needs to recall the failed products from the customer. There is also the possibility that the importer or distributor will be subjected to a certain level of penalty. 3 4
