14 B.17 Technical notes and definitions UCAS Teacher Training (UTT) provides a single admissions system for Higher Education, SCITT-based, School Direct and School Direct (salaried) training programmes. Applicants have been able to submit applications for all 2014 UCAS Teacher Training courses since 21 November This report covers the applications made to UTT courses. Values have been rounded to the nearest 10, this may result in instances where totals do not equal the sum of the components. Age This report uses country-specific age definitions which align with the cut off points for school/college cohorts within the different administrations of the UK. For England and Wales ages are defined on the 31 August 2014, for Northern Ireland on the 1 July 2014 and for Scotland on the 28 February Defining ages in this way matches the assignment of children to school cohorts. For applicants outside of the UK, the cohort cut off for England and Wales has been used. Applicant A person who has made an application to UTT during the cycle reported. Application An application to a course at a provider made by an applicant. Applicants may make up to three applications in Apply 1 and may only make one application at a time in Apply 2. Application summary status Applications have been assigned to a summary status based on their status. Applications are counted against each status and route they were made in. For Apply 2 only the latest application made is counted. The summary status is the application status from the following: : unconditional firm application. : conditional firm application. offer: application with an unconditional or conditional offer and no reply. Other: all other applications. Application detailed status Using the same methodology as the summary status, the detailed status is the applications status from the following: : unconditional firm application. : conditional firm application. Unconditional offer: application with an unconditional offer and no reply. offer: application with a conditional offer and no reply. Pending provider decision: application that has not yet had a reply from a provider or has an been given an interview invite. Offer declined or not made: application has either been unsuccessful, declined by the applicant or withdrawn. Application full status Using the same methodology as the summary status, the full status is the applications status from the following: : unconditional firm application. : conditional firm application. Unconditional offer: application with an unconditional offer and no reply. offer: application with a conditional offer and no reply. Interview request: applications where the applicant has been invited to an interview. Pending provider offer: applications are waiting for provider decision. No offer made: applicants have not received offers. Offer decline: application received provider offer and was declined by the applicant. Application withdrawn: application withdrawn from UTT. Applications are counted against each status and route they were made in. For Apply 2 only the latest application made is counted. If an applicant withdraws from UTT then all applications are treated as 'Withdrawn' in these tables (February 2014 onwards).
15 Apply route Applicants may make three applications through Apply 1 and one application at a time through Apply 2. Applications are reported against the route they were made in. For Apply 2 only the latest application made is counted. Domicile Declared area of permanent residence. The Channel Islands and the Isle of Man have been assigned as 'Not EU'. Provider country and region The country and region of the UTT provider. For 2014, there are no Northen Ireland UTT providers. Course phase The phase the application was made to. The course phase may be Primary, Secondary or Other (Middle is included in Other). Course type The type of course the application was made to. The course type may be Higher education, SCITT, School Direct and School Direct (salaried). Subjects Subjects are reported for Primary and Secondary courses. Only subjects that have at least 10 applications in total (to all UK providers) are reported on. Secondary courses may have up to two subjects assigned. Applications to courses are counted against each course subject, which may result in applications to Secondary courses being counted more than once. Applications to courses with a single subject assigned are also reported separately. The three subject classifications Design, Technology and Food Technology have been removed and re with the single classification Design and Technology (April 2014 onwards).
