With our weekly themes, children will have the opportunity to express their knowledge and creativity through crafts, games, music and play. Each student will have a turn providing a healthy snack for the whole class. This is a semester-based class with new ideas and projects each semester. We will review and work on social skills, motor skills, writing, counting, letter sounds, math activities, important skills that children need to know before they enter school. This class will not only help prepare your child for the classroom environment, it will be a great time for them to have fun and make new friends. 2 Color Me a Rainbow Rainbows are so beautiful that we want to explore every color. Each week we will be a different color, with that color we will create colorful crafts, listen to a story and have some hands-on fun. You can wear the color of the week to help us celebrate these beautiful colors. The first week is RED! Instructor: Recreation Staff. Preschoolers dance, sing, listen to stories and complete art projects while learning to speak and understand practical Spanish. Enjoy watching your child s language skills grow. Children may attend by themselves. However, one parent/guardian is welcome to attend free with each paid child. 3 Animal Roundup Discover how much fun animals can be as each week we learn where they live, what they eat and what sounds they make. The fi rst day of class we will learn about puppy dogs. Don t forget to bring along your favorite stuffed animal to go along with our theme of the week. Instructor: Lynne Huyser. MB Computertots This national program has been developed by educators to engage inquisitive minds and has been featured on CNN and in Parents Magazine. Children will explore exciting computer activities in a small interactive group, using a laptop computer and educational software. The Pediatrics Medical Journal states, Computers boost preschooler s intelligence. Children with ready access to computers scored an average of 12 points higher on IQ tests. Our programs encourage reading readiness, math readiness, creativity and teamwork to help prepare your child for kindergarten and the future. Each new session provides new learning adventures and software. Even children with computers at home will benefi t from the social interaction and academic skills reinforced in this class. 4 Journey Through Sesame Street Walk down Sesame Street with us! Each week as we make our journey, we will meet all the familiar faces, Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster and more. We will learn all about them through the adventure of play and the best thing is, we will also be learning letters and colors along the way! Instructor: Christina Antzoulatos. Participants are encouraged to bring an object each week that goes along with the letter we are learning. This is a great opportunity for your child to learn their letters on their own! Instructor: Recreation Staff. MB Stretch-n-Grow We will use music, games and small equipment to get our bodies moving and having a great time! Children will burn off lots of energy while having fun, learning to enjoy exercise, and building healthy habits. Through our activities, your child will build social skills, engage their imagination, build coordination, develop a variety of large motor skills, build their self-esteem, and much more. Each session covers new discussion topics and has different activities. Parachute play is a part of every class.
