1 Hardware Announcement Symantec VERITAS Cluster Server and Storage Foundation solutions strengthen clustering in a heterogeneous environment Overview Symantec s VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS) and VERITAS Storage Foundation (VSF) products are offered on xseries and BladeCenter servers running Microsoft Windows and Linux. These products feature high-availability clustering solutions, file system, and volume management capabilities in a heterogeneous server environment. They can also assist customers with integrating Linux-based servers into their datacenter environment and in migrating their datacenter environment from UNIX to Linux. This product offering is being enhanced to include support for single instance Oracle database environments, and for data replication over wide-area networks. 4 Limitations All VERITAS Linux offerings: A license must be purchased for each socket on which this product is running or installed, regardless of the number of cores on the chip. For example, each dual-core AMD Opteron chip running Storage Foundation for Linux requires one license. Each Windows License (except Datacenter) authorizes a single copy of the Software on one instance of the operating system on a single server. Each Windows Datacenter License authorizes multiple instances of the Software on a single server. Each Windows Enterprise Option SKU contains FlashSnap, DMP, and MSCS Options (VS2 support not included). Each Windows Storage Foundation DR, SKU contains Storage Foundation HA 4.3 plus FlashSnap, DMP, Volume Replicator and Global Cluster Options (VS2 support not included). Each Windows Storage Foundation HA Enterprise Option SKU includes Dynamic Multipathing and FlashSnap Options. The Symantec VERITAS offerings are available from IBM in the U.S., CAN, and EMEA.
