Supply-side statistics developments Slovak Republic Table 5 SR 2005 Production accounts of tourism industries and other industries (at basic prices) Available data sources for 2005 Supply and Use Tables of the SR (60 commodities of CPA x 60 industries of NACE) Matrix of output production (440 commodities of CPA x 60 industries of NACE) Basic data from structural business survey: matrix of output (5-digit level of CPA x 4-digit level of NACE) 1
Table 5 Classifications used Classification of tourism products The old classification was used: A. Specific products A1. Characteristic products A2. Connected products B. Non-specific products A. SPECIFIC PRODUCTS A.1 Characteristic products 1 Accommodation services 1.1 Hotels and other lodging services 1.2 Second home services on own account or for free 2 Food and beverage serving services 3 Passenger transport services 3.1 Interurban railway 3.2 Road 3.3 Water 3.4 Air 3.5 Supporting services 3.6 Transport equipment rental 3.7 Maintenance and repair services 4 Travel agency, tour operator and tourist guide services 5 Culture services 5.1 Performing arts 5.2 Museum and other cultural services 6 Recreation and other entertainment services 6.1 Sports and recreational sport services 6.2 Other amusement and recreational services 7 Miscellaneous tourism services 7.1 Financial and insurance services 7.2 Other good rental services 7.3 Other tourism services A.2 Connected products B. NON SPECIFIC PRODUCTS 2
Classification of tourism products For characteristic products the bridge table between CPA (based on 4-5 digit level) and TSA classification was prepared For connected products separately were chosen: Petrol Food products and beverages Other goods (list of products was chosen) Other services (list of services was chosen) Margins concerning the sale of petrol Margins concerning the sale of goods (foods and other goods) Non specific products were calculated as output of industry minus tourism connected products. Classification of tourism industries Tourism industries were defined according new classification (industries 1 to 10), Then separately was showed: retail trade of petrol retail trade of tourism specific goods, insurance services Other industries of economy together 3
Classification of tourism industries 1.a Hotels and similar 1.b Second home ownership 2. Food and beverage serving industry 3. Railway (passenger and freight) transport 4. Road passenger transport 5. Water passenger transport 6. Air passenger transport 7. Transport equipment rental 8. Travel agencies 9. Cultural industry 10. Sport and recreational industry 11.a Retail trade of petrol 11.b Retail trade of other specific goods 12. Country specific tourism industries (insurance) Margins Products in output matrix of SUT are shown in basic prices, i.e. without taxes minus subsidies on products and without margins (trade and transport) In the SUT the trade margins is shown as trade commodity (CPA 52, 50) and transport margin as transport commodity. We estimate trade margins for tourism connected goods (foods and other goods) based on average rate calculated from SUT and then this volume was split according to industry structure of whole trade margins in the SUT. 4
Intermediate consumption and value added of industries Simultaneously with the construction of output for each industry also intermediate consumption of industry was prepared Value added of industry is calculated as: output minus intermediate consumption TSAT5 Výrobné účty jednotlivých odvetví cestovného ruchu a ostatných odvetví v SR v roku 2005 (TSAtabuľka T5) Production accounts of tourism industries and other industries in the Slovak Republic in 2005 (TSA tablet5) Odvetvia cestovného ruchu/tourism industries Hotels Second home Restaurants Railaway Road Water Air Passanger Travel Cultural and similar ownership and similar transport passanger passanger passanger transp. equipm. agencies and services (imputed) transport transport transport rental similar Indicator Hotely a Víkendové Reštaurácie Železničná Cestná osobná Vodná osob. 6 Table 6 SR 2005 Total domestic supply and internal tourism consumption (at purchasers prices) Table 6 consists of three parts: a) the first part concerning the domestic production and value added (at basic prices), i.e. there are data from Table 5 b) in the second part are added: imports (at basic prices=cif) and columns, which invert basic prices of products to purchaser prices (they are: taxes minus subsidies on products, margins (trade and transport)). c) in the third part the supply (domestic and import) is compared with internal tourism consumption = calculation of tourism ration for each products Imports Data sources: Import of goods and services from SUT (60 commodities) Detail data on imported goods from foreign trade statistics Detail data from National Bank statements concerning imported services. Data on purchases of resident households abroad (within the travels abroad). 6
Imports Note under Table 6 in the RMF 2008 says: *Imports excludes direct purchase of residents abroad If National Accounts compile Imports in national concept, i.e. including the purchases abroad, these purchases have to be extracted from the Imports shown in TSA, because in Table 6 on the demand side we have internal tourism consumption in domestic concept, i.e. without outbound tourism consumption. Taxes and subsidies on products Data sources: Data from SUT (60 commodities) Detail data from National Accounts calculations Estimates 7
Margins Volume of margins (estimated in Table 5) we have shown in Table 6 as it is obviously in the SUT, i.e. with negative sign in the column for margins For tourism connected goods only trade margins were estimated. We suppose, that transport margins refers only to freight transport.
