2 A GUIDE TO REGISTRATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR A. ANNOUNCEMENT of THE RESULTS: Candidates can learn their placement results by accessing the system using their usernames and passwords. B. Registrations can be done personally or by way of legal representative (notary certified warrant) Candidates who submit altered or forget documents for registration will have their registration process cancelled. Registration cannot be done with outstanding document. Registration cannot be done with outstanding document. If candidates do not complete the registration procedures on the announced dates and times, they will lose the right of registration. C. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR REGISTRATION: 1. Information Form of International Students: The Information Form of International Student which is filled by the candidate (you can get the form from the address of akus.akdeniz.edu.tr). 2. A high school diploma, or Temporary High School Degree Certificate: A high school diploma, or Temporary High School Degree Certificate with a notarised Turkish translation approved by the Turkish Embassy in their own country,

4 NOTE: The original and the photocopy of high school diploma is sufficient for the candidates who completed their high school education in Turkey, 3. Legal transcript approved by the Directorate of High School: Legal transcript approved by the Directorate of High School and its Turkish translation approved by Turkish Foreign Representatives or notary, NOTE: Legal Transcript approved by the Directorate of High School is sufficient for the candidates who completed their high school education in Turkey, 4. Diploma Equivalency: Diploma Equivalency certificate approved by the Ministry of National Education, Provisional Directorates for National Education or Turkish foreign representatives in their countries, NOTE: Diploma Equivalency is not required for the candidates who completed their high school education in Turkey, 5. A notarised copy of the candidate s passport or the copy of a National ID card for candidates who are Turkish Citizen: After seeing the original of the passports of foreign candidates, one of the copies of the pages showing the information of identity and the duration of validity and their Turkish translation approved by Turkish foreign representatives or notary, NOTE: The copy of a National ID card for candidates who are Turkish Citizen is sufficient for the candidates who are Turkish Citizen, 6. Required Documents related to the Citizenship: A copy of Vital Record: Candidates who are foreign nationals by birth, and who have also been granted Turkish citizenship (dual nationality) must obtain a copy of Vital Record from the Civil Registry Office which they are registered to. Candidates having dual nationality are not required this document if they have a High School Diploma from the countries outside of Turkey. Certificate of Birth may be required in case a copy of Vital Record is insufficient. Candidates having the Blue Card: The original and a copy of the Blue Card (given by the Republic of Turkey), and the document and its copy which shows that the candidate is a Turkish citizen by birth who was granted permission by the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs to give up their Turkish citizenship, or is a child of such a person who is below the age of 18, and who is registered on his or her parent s renunciation of citizenship document, providing they have in their possession documentary evidence of their rights under the terms of Law No. 5901, and Article 7 (1),

5 Candidates having TRNC Citizenship: A GCE AL result certificate, and a notarised Turkish translation approved by the Turkish Embassy in their own country is required for any candidate who is a TRNC citizen. 7. A copy of student visa approved by notary: A copy of student visa obtained from Turkish Embassy must be approved by notary. NOTE: The candidates who have residence permit in Turkey and the candidates having Turkish Citizenship will be exempt from student visa. 8. A Declaration of Financial Security: The amount for the financial Security will be determined by Akdeniz University Administrative Board and will be announced on the Akdeniz University official website. 9. Diploma Programmes /Departments requiring Health Board Report: Candidates who were placed to the diploma programmes mentioned below must supply Health Board Report, taken from the specified health institutions, a. The diploma programmes which require Health Board Report taken from the Hospital of Faculty of Medicine of Akdeniz University. Civil Defence and Fire Fighting (Formal and Evening Education) (Vocational School of Technical Sciences) First and Immediate Aid (Formal and Evening Education) (Vocational School of Health Sciences) b. The diploma programmes which require Health Board Report taken from the full-fledged formal state hospital: Faculty of Nursing School of Physical Sciences and Sports Medical Laboratory Techniques (Formal and Evening Education) (Vocational School of Health Sciences) Dialysis Programme (Vocational School of Health Sciences) Medical Imaging Techniques (Formal and Evening Education) (Vocational School of Health Sciences Care of Elderly (Formal and Evening Education) (Vocational School of Health Sciences) Physical Therapy (Formal and Evening Education) (Vocational School of Health Sciences) NOTE: Health Report will not be requested from the candidates who were placed to the other diploma programmes.

PAYMENT OF THE TUITION FEE and THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS DURING THE COURSE REGISTRATION PERIOD (September 5-9,, 2016) Documents listed below must be submitted to the unit of student affairs of the Faculty/School/Vocational School which the candidates have registered with. 1. A bank receipt which shows that the tuition fee has been paid to the relevant bank account (see Table-1) 2. A copy of residence Permit taken from Provincial Directorate providing showing the original of residence permit, and Foreign Identity Number. NOTE: You can learn your foreign identity number from the web address ( 3. Turkish Proficiency Certificate: Candidates must supply at least B2 level of Turkish Proficiency Certificate in one of the certificates mentioned below. AKUS Turkish Proficiency Examination Result Level of Turkish Proficiency Examination held by School of Foreign Languages of Akdeniz University (in order to take the examination follow the link: Turkish Proficiency Certificate awarded by School of Foreign Languages of Akdeniz University Turkish Proficiency Certificate awarded by Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Proficiency Certificate is not required if a candidate; has completed all of his or her secondary education in Turkey, has completed his or her secondary education in one of the Turkish Schools founded by the Ministry of Education in a foreign country, has been placed to the diploma programmes given in a foreign language (German Language and Literature, English language and Literature, English Language and Literature (Evening Courses), Computer Engineering, and Tourism Management). NOTE: Candidates who do not supply Turkish Proficiency Certificate or who have not reached the required standard in Turkish Proficiency Examination held by School of Foreign Languages at Akdeniz University will, after registration, be given a deferment on starting their courses for one year in order to improve their Turkish language level. Candidates will have their registrations cancelled if they fail to reach the required standard in the Turkish Proficiency Examination in the two years following their registration in the Turkish Education Programme.

7 Foreign Language Proficiency: Foreign Language Certificate is required for the candidates who have been successful in their applications to programmes for which preparation classes are required, or to programmes whose courses are in a foreign language. The students who have not Foreign Language Proficiency Certificate may attend to the Examination of Determination of Foreign Language Level of Prep Class and Proficiency on the date of September 19th (in order to take the examination follow the link: E. GENERAL HEALTH INSURANCE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS All international students who have registered with Akdeniz University will be permitted to register for General Health Insurance if they submit a written application to the provincial Directorate of Social Security, or Social Security centre, no more than three months after the date on which they register at the schools where they are studying. In order to be insured students must pay the General Health Insurance premium. For more details: TABLE-1: ACADEMIC YEAR TUITION FEES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS!!! Tuition fees given in the accompanying table are valid for the 2015/2016 academic year. The maximum and minimum levels of tuition fees for foreign students who study at Akdeniz University are determined by the Administrative Board of the University in accordance with the decree of the Council of Ministers.
