1 This scholarship application is for scholarships administered through the Department of Architecture, and for scholarships awarded to the Department by the Texas Architectural Foundation (TAF) and the Dallas Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). Information about scholarships and eligibility requirements are listed on the College of Architecture web site and in the College of Architecture Scholarship Directory. In addition to those scholarships awarded by the Department of Architecture, scholarships are offered though the College of Architecture, the American Institute of Architects, and the University. Students are encouraged to contact these sources for applications and deadline information. Please note that all competitive scholarships awarded by TAF, Dallas CSI and other external organizations no longer carry a tuition waiver. Information about scholarships and eligibility requirements are listed on the College of Architecture web. Students should note that the issuance of a scholarship does not ensure the awarding of a scholarship for subsequent academic years. In addition, there is no guarantee that the amount of a scholarship awarded in one academic year will be of an equal or greater value the following academic year. Some scholarships may list either financial need or scholastic standing as the most important consideration. Some may have other or additional criteria, such as the hometown of student. Scholarships Requiring Letter Outlining Skill, Advancement and Career Goals Required is a one page letter addressed to the Dallas CSI Scholarship Foundation describing the students interest in architecture, construction science/technology and career goals. Descriptive data pertaining to any special accomplishments in the area of Architectural Design, Construction Science and Technology and a resume must be included. The selected applicant will be asked to submit two endorsement letters, an official transcript and a 2 x 3 color photograph, head and shoulder. 12 Suggested outline for Proposals Scholarships requiring proposals for study have specific criteria for eligibility. Please be sure you meet eligibility requirements. Students should not simply submit a copy of their M.S or PhD thesis proposal or dissertation for review. Proposals for study must clearly state and define a topic of investigation. A suggested outline is below. It is not necessary to format the proposal identical to below. For example, the headings could be dropped and information relevant to each heading could simply be contained within individual paragraphs. Move to the lead paragraph Title of the Study Description of the study What exactly are you studying and what are the main objectives of your project? Importance of the Study Why is this study important to you and/or others? Review of the Literature What background knowledge relative to the topic do you have? Provide a brief account of existing knowledge on the subject. Research Methodology Conclusions Itinerary How exactly are you going to accomplish the study? What types of data will you collect (data through interviews, archival research, photographs, drawings)? How will this data assist you in completing the objectives of the study? What do you think you will accomplish and/or come to know? Where are you going and for how long? The itinerary should be detailed and realistic. Anticipated Costs How much will the study cost? The costs should be detailed and realistic. 12

13 Conditions of the Scholarship Please note that you must satisfy the following conditions before your scholarship/fellowship will be finalized. Failure to accomplish # 3 and # 4 below will result in the withdrawal of scholarships and fellowships. 1. All scholarships and fellowships (except the Edward J. Romieniec Graduate Traveling Fellowship) will be awarded one-half of the scholarship/fellowship amount in the fall semester and one half of the scholarship/fellowship amount in the spring semester. You must be enrolled as a full-time student in the Department of Architecture and remain in good academic standing at Texas A&M University in order to receive the fall and spring scholarship/fellowship payments. Students graduating in December will receive only the fall semester payment (half the total scholarship/fellowship amount). 2. Students receiving the Edward J. Romieniec Graduate Traveling Fellowship may elect to receive full payment for travel. 3. You must write a letter of thanks to the donor prior to the banquet. DO NOT MAIL YOUR LETTER. Original letters must be submitted to Melinda Randle in the Department of Architecture office (Langford A411) by April 08, 2016, two weeks prior to the scholarship banquet. The Department will mail the letter for you. A picture of you accepting the scholarship/fellowship will be included in the mailing to your donor. 4. You will be required to attend the scholarship banquet on April 22, Students attending study away programs other than internships are exempt from attending. Students on internship are expected to attend if within reasonable driving distance. Written permission requesting absence from the banquet must be submitted to the Department Head two weeks prior to the event. 5.
