4 Mission Statement The Orange County Underage Drinking Task Force will clearly define the magnitude of underage drinking and high-risk drinking in the community, educate and engage the community stakeholders (e.g. parents, retailers, educators) and provide viable solutions that will reduce and prevent harms related to underage drinking. 10 Recommendations Recommendation: Hire three Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug (ATOD) Prevention Specialists to coordinate and implement ATOD prevention and early intervention programs (selected 4-9 th grades) ATOD Prevention Specialists provide direct support and/or counseling for high risk students and their families (grades 6 through 9) ATOD Prevention Specialists provide ATOD prevention parenting programs for parents of middle and high school students Create and distribute alcohol & drug prevention Newspaper in Education Federal Grant Funding: $1.2M Orange County Public Schools Safe School/Health Students Grant Orange County Underage Drinking Task Force Report
