6 Participants involved in the DVI process Team of people Numbers of personnel involved depends on the size of the particular incident and includes the following:- Coroners and their staff DVI Commander Police Crime Scene Investigators, photographers, fingerprint experts etc Medical and dental experts Forensic pathologists, odontologsts, anthropologists, radiographers, technicians Victim support groups grief councellors Technical investigators e.g. Australian Transport Safety Bureau Support personnel e.g., Salvation Army, Red Cross, security etc. 6
7 DVI Documentation of victim identification information in all phases International standard Interpol DVI forms: used to document all 5 phases INTERPOL: 182 member countries This permits exchange of standardise information on an international basis to representatives of victims and related investigators from different countries Phase 1: The Scene Major Crime Scene - Security Remains in situ 7
