7 Memorandum To: University Policy & Curriculum Committee From: Tamra Legron-Rodriguez Date: 12/3/2015 Re: Program updates for Forensic Science - Analysis Track (B.S.) Name of Program: Forensic Science - Analysis Track (B.S.) Proposed Implementation (catalog year): Short, overall rationale for the change(s): Changes are needed to (A) update contact information for the new program coordinator, (B) clarify requirement for STA 2023, and (C) to list other courses permitted as restricted electives. These proposed changes will aid in clarification of degree requirements (B) and in academic advising (A and C). 2. Itemized description of each change: A. Contact information has been changed to reflect the new program coordinator, Dr. Tamra Legron-Rodriguez B. STA 2023 is is now added listed as under a Basic 2. Common Core: Required. Program This Prerequisites. ensures that STA it 2023 is is completed already listed as as a degree a required requirement course in 1. as UCF well General as Education requirement. Program () but was not listed under the program prerequisites- this led to may questions regarding transfer credits. Listing STA 2023 under 2. Common Program Prerequisites will clarify the course as a requirement. C. CHS 3533L and CHS 4534C are now listed under 5. s The courses are part of the core requirements for the Forensics Science Biochemistry B.S., they are accepted as restricted electives and the motivation for listing CHS 3533L and CHS 4534C is to increase student awareness and enrollment in the courses. 8 Office of the Dean College of Sciences Memorandum To: University Policy & Curriculum Committee From: Teresa Dorman, Associate Dean Date: 12/4/2015 Re: College of Sciences Program Revisions Name of Program: All COS Majors/Tracks Proposed Implementation (catalog year): Short, overall rationale for the change(s): Clarifying and streamlining language in catalog that explains how the major GPA is calculated. 2. Itemized description of each change: Catalog copy for each major and track in the College of Sciences includes statements that address the Major GPA that students must attain, in addition to the university minimum GPA, in order to be awarded the degree. These Major GPAs are calculated from particular courses in the major as determined by the department s program faculty. In order to clarify how this GPA is calculated (on which courses is the GPA based), our programs provided streamlined language. These updated statements will provide both the student and advisor better information to determine exactly which courses are used in the calculation of the Major GPA. To this end, we are submitting catalog revisions for each of our degree programs/tracks with bulleted language that describes the GPA calculation requirements each program selected. Where applicable, information was updated and in some cases, this includes changes to both the Degree Requirements and Departmental Exit Requirements section. Attachments: 1.
