They wanted the city of Cali to have a Catholic school that would offer students the benefits of English as a second language. The coeducational school would guarantee equal opportunities for men and women and support the development of critical thinking skills. It would adhere to the guidelines of English education, as adapted to local conditions, and would be responsive to the needs and requirements of the community. The Consul of Great Britain, Mr. AEB Laurence, gave his full support and commitment to this business proposal by Luis Emilio Sardi, Bernardo Garces and Luis Alfredo Restrepo. In June 1956 the CCB Corporation was founded. This non-profit company offered the same obligations and rights for all those who wanted their children to be educated in the institution. In the light of the motto of the School s coat of arms: "Uniting people and cultures through education", the School continues in the search and implementation of strategies and programs to ensure its progress. Also it fulfils its social mission: to provide Colombian education that prepares "caring, informed young people eager for knowledge, able to contribute to creating a better and more peaceful world in the framework of mutual understanding and intercultural respect"; a fundamental purpose of the International Baccalaureate Programme and the founding principles of the School. 2 PHILOSOPHY The Colegio Colombo Británico bases its philosophy in the values of honesty, respect, responsibility, solidarity and tolerance. QUALITY ASSURANCE & ACCREDITATION The Colegio Colombo Británico offers a bilingual (Spanish-English) and co-bicultural education for students from 18 months to 18 years of age. It is the only school of its type in southwestern Colombia. The School offers the three programs of the International Baccalaureate Organization in its bilingual version: IB Primary School (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), in compliance with national and international educational standards. Currently, and with help from the Sistema de Gestión de Calidad (Quality Management System), the School is checking its work, reflecting on it, and putting in place the necessary adjustments, while taking into account suggestions for continuous improvement. The firms SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) and UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) granted certification to the School in April of LOCATION AND FACILITIES The School features extensive sporting and recreational facilities, academic buildings superbly equipped for each of the four sections (Kindergarten, Preprimary, Primary, Secondary); laboratories for chemistry, physics and biology; library and information center, auditorium, sports area with tennis and indoor gymnasium, cafeteria and administration buildings, maintenance and transportation.

3 CURRICULUM The School offers three International Baccalaureate programs: Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). The entire student population benefits from the IB curriculum s distinctive features and strengths. These programmes "form a coherent sequence that encourages holistic education of the human being, emphasizing intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth" and encourages students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners. The School is one of four in Colombia that are part of the global IB network of 3,290 schools in 141 countries. These programs are supported by collaborative planning from teachers and specialists in each grade, for an integrated multi-disciplinary approach. The student learner profile prioritizes affective and cognitive skills, and seeks to educate citizens who are competent and active. Additionally we believe the arts (music, dance, theater, visual arts and literature) are part of a universal language. Therefore the School gives the arts equal weight with other subjects, as it constitutes a means of personal growth. This relationship with the arts allows students to develop an appreciation for aesthetic and sensibility, with a balance of learning techniques and creative expression of ideas and emotions. The School s extracurricular activities also enable the development of skills, strengths and skills at individual and group level. Students participate in basketball, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, swimming, judo and skating, and represent the School at intercollegiate sports tournaments. According to the ages of the academic sections, the School offers complementary curricular activities including theater, dance, violin, cello, guitar, choir, gardening, crafts, cooking and more. Students also participate in Model UN, music, newspaper, yearbook, scouting, social services, and preparation for Confirmation. A Musical has become a traditional annual event. SCHOOL GOVERNANCE The School is a private, non for profit Corporation whose owners are its associates. One parent per family becomes a member of the Corporation, or associate, once the family enters the School. Such member has a vote at the annual Assembly where besides attending the annual report from the President of the Board and the Headmaster, the Board of Directors is elected. The Board has seven principal members and seven substitutes. In order to conduct the School s business, the meetings take place every month (or more if it is required).

Using his/her fiscal and administrative management experience, the new Headmaster will lead CCB into a future that allows the school to fulfill its commitment to academic excellence, while maintaining financial sustainability. Candidates with a proven track record in leading schools as Head of School, Deputy Head or Principal and who are committed to the education of young people are invited to apply. Academic and Professional Qualifications An advanced Educational Degree, with a credential in Administration Previous experience (at least four years) and proven success in an executive or administrative role, as a Head of School, Deputy Head or Principal. Overseas experience, with an interest and affinity with Latin American countries can count in favor of the candidate. Strong financial and organizational, human resource, marketing and management skills Proven experience and expertise with International Baccalaureate programs Strong leadership in pedagogical approaches Knowledge in school governance Educational or professional experience in a culturally diverse environment Experience in technology based educational solutions English fluency is essential; additionally an ability to communicate in Spanish is preferable

5 SALARY & BENEFITS An initial, two or three-year, renewable contract will be offered to the successful candidate. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with the experiences.
