1 Toi Angelle Educ 1301 Lesson Plan # 1 Major Concept: Grade/Age: Kindergarten Word Recognition Learning Objectives: 1. The learner will recognize words that are of the same family 2. The learner will recognize beginning sounds of words TEKS: (b) Recognize that spoken words can be represented by print for communication Materials Needed: Pencil Worksheet Lesson: Lesson introduction: How did I get them excited about the topic? Draw pictures of two objects and ask what they have in common? (picture of a Tree and Truck) (friend and frog) (pencil and pen) Presentation Explain further on the board by underlining to first two letters of each word and explain that they are the same, do more examples while they are all actively participating until I feel comfortable that they are understanding 1 or 2 questions, answered by a few students to make sure they are on task.

2 Ask a few to come to the board and underling the words that begin with the same two letters Students will have a worksheet where they will circle the words on the list that start with the same letters. Explain to the students that they are to find two words in each row that begin with the same letter. Follow up/ Homework: Give them a worksheet with similar examples to do at home. Have them circle the two words with the same first letter. Grade the students on the total number correct out of the total possible number. 3 Lesson Plan #2 Major Concept: Creative Expression Grade/Age: Kindergarten Learning Objectives: 1. The learner will be able to apply design into creative concepts 2. The learner will participate in a brief show and tell, acting out the role of the costume they created to introduce them to the liberal arts TEKS: (b) create costumes, using simple materials Materials Needed: Different colored Construction paper Different colored/patterned Fabric Scissors Glue Markers Crayons Tape Staples Lesson: Lesson Introduction: Costume Activity Pass out candy! Have on a costume! Explain my costume and why I chose to wear it. Tell them that they will be making their own costumes. Students have the option of creating a Halloween costume or (for the students that do not celebrate the holiday) any costume (such as future career, favorite animal, celebrity, cartoon character etc.) Explain brief history of Halloween and explain to them that not everyone celebrates this holiday, American tradition. Presentation: Show pictures of children in costumes to give them examples

4 Application activity: Have children pick a costume to recreate. Have Table of supplies set up. Have each student get what supplies they need to create their costume. Follow up/homework The most creative costume and show and tell presenter will get their face on the wall of fame for most creative costume Everyone will get praised and receive candy too! 5 Lesson Plan #3 Major Concept: Grade: Kindergarten Oral and Written Conventions/Spelling. Students spell correctly. Learning Objectives: 1. Write one's own name. Teks: (C) Materials Needed: Pre printed Laminated large lined writing paper with my name Dry erase marker Pre Printed Wide Spaced lined writing paper Pencil Lesson: Introduction Have an alphabet created with each letter beginning with the students names with their picture by the letter. Let them know that they are special and so is their name. Presentation: Demonstrate by showing students how to trace over their name by tracing over my name on dry erase board. Application Activity: Have each student trace their own name on pre printed writing paper. Follow up/ Homework: More preprinted practice sheets with their name on it, due the next day. Have each student make nametags for their desk. Resources Used: none
