Complete the ASGC Textbook Scholarship Application 2. Complete the Required Textbooks Form. a. To complete this form, you can either visit the bookstore or go to the following website to look for the book prices 3. Submit a copy of your: a. Class schedule demonstrating that you are enrolled in at least six (6) academic units at Gavilan College b. Transcript indicating a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above c. Receipt showing that you have paid for your classes in full d. Current ASGC card e. Current Educational Plan completed by a Gavilan College Counselor OR a degree audit from DegreeWorks indicating that the classes you are enrolled in are necessary for your degree. 4. Type a minimum of a one to two page double-spaced personal statement answering the following questions: a. What are your future goals? b. How will this scholarship benefit you in reaching your goals? c. Why should we choose you as the recipient of this scholarship? 5. Submit your completed ASGC Textbook Scholarship Packet to the ASGC Office or the ASGC mailbox by: Wednesday February 3rd at 12:30pm Important Notes for Students: Please print clearly when completing the ASGC Textbook Scholarship application. Applications that are not legible will not be reviewed. Please be sure to double-check your scholarship application packet to ensure that all required documents listed above have been submitted. Once the application has been marked as received by an ASGC Officer, no additional documentation will be accepted. There will be no exceptions. Please keep this page for your records. 1

2 ASGC Textbook Scholarship Award Information ASGC Textbook Scholarships are awarded on a lottery basis. ASGC Textbook Scholarships will be given in the form of ASGC approved vouchers redeemable only at the Gavilan College Bookstore, and may be used for textbooks only. In order to assist as many students as possible, ASGC Textbook Scholarship vouchers will not exceed $200 per student. However, the actual amount awarded to each qualifying student is determined by the total cost of each student s textbooks. Awards are given in increments of $25, but will not exceed the total cost of the textbooks. For example, if your textbooks total $95, you may be awarded $75. Students must submit the ASGC Textbook Scholarship Application Packet in person at the Gilroy campus ASGC office located in the Student Center. For information regarding ASGC office hours, please call the ASGC Office at (408) Those awarded the ASGC Textbook Scholarship will be notified on Thursday February 4 th via their Gavilan address which can be accessed on the MyGav student portal. Students selected to receive the ASGC Textbook Scholarship must pick up their voucher in the ASGC office no later than Thursday February 11 th at 12pm. The last day to use your ASGC Textbook Scholarship Voucher in the Gavilan College Bookstore is Tuesday February 16 th. If you do not qualify for the ASGC Textbook Scholarship you may: 1.
