5 The purpose of the next slide is to emphasise to you that within a very short time after commencing a type rating with us in Ryanair, you, with about 200hrs, will be part of an airline crew actively contributing to statistics such as those contained in the following NATS generated safety report 5

6 Note Ryanair s very low rate of level busts per 100,000 movements which is a direct result of the consistent application of practical SOPs throughout the base and route network. 6

7 Having qualified as a co-pilot a new entry pilot will accumulate hours at a rate of approximately 800 per year. As a result s/he will have the minimum requirement to apply for our SFI program after a little over 2 years in the company. The SFI program is a fantastic opportunity for ambitious, talented and motivated copilots to reach a standard of qualification and expertise that they will carry with them for the rest of their Ryanair and flying career. The SFI course builds confidence, knowledge and provides opportunities to get involved in specific projects that require research, development and execution. Having spent months with us in the training department, a pilot will then glide easily through the Command Upgrade process that commences at 2,400hours on type. All co-pilots are required to enter The Route to Command after one year or 800hrs on type. The RTC is a phased, structured learning path that provides a co-pilot with specific knowledge and skills which will enhance their chances of passing the command upgrade course. A minimum of 3000hrs MPA is required to become a commander in Ryanair. We enjoy high pass rates and our course is both challenging and rewarding. We are in the process of adding another FFS session to provide students with even greater flight path management and operational management training. Following command upgrade a Captain will have the opportunity to move through the training ranks of Line Training Captain, Type Rating Instructor, Type Rating Examiner and Senior Examiner. 7

8 A lot of these are self explanatory. The one that is the most surprising and most disappointing is the frequent lack of preparation by candidates for their assessment. It is astonishing to us that when a young pilot arrives at what should be the first step on the pilot career ladder, they have incorrect paperwork, have not studied the information pack that we send to every candidate and that they have not researched Ryanair to any extent. 8

9 We have looked in detail at the records of 440 of our recent applicants. We looked at the items specified in the slide. 9

10 This slide speaks for itself there were no assessment Pass/Fail trends identified associated with nationality, course type, language proficiency or what flying school any of the 440 students came to us with. The message is clear work hard and prepare well. If you pass our assessment, regardless of whatever route you have taken to qualify as a Commercial Pilot, you will almost certainly pass the type rating course and will have a very good chance of becoming a Commander 4 years later. 10

11 A pre assessment pack is sent to all candidates when they are called for assessment. This should be studied carefully as it contains all you need to know to give yourself the best possible chance to pass the assessment. 11

12 As can be deduced from the slide, you must prepare well, use good CRM and demonstrate that you have a good instrument scan. 12

13 Ryanair is set for further significant growth over the next 5 years. This will provide many career and promotion opportunities in Ryanair. If you want interesting flying to varied destinations on modern jets, great rosters (5 on / 4 off), fantastic career opportunities and excellent salaries then work with your ATO to get accepted into a Ryanair type rating course and fast track your way to a rewarding airline career. 13
