8 EMEA Loans Review Deal Activity EMEA total Syndicated Loan volumes in amounted to USD 1,214.5 billion. This compares to USD billion for, a 32.4% increase. There were over 1,700 Syndicated Loans issued, compared with 1,408 in. Sponsor-Led Leveraged Loan volumes totalled USD billion, compared with USD billion in. Deal numbers for Sponsor-Led loans were flat year-on-year at 191 issues. Two of the most prominent loans of the year (ZF Friedrichshafen and Imperial Tobacco) were underwritten by small MLA groups, demonstrating the return of banks' appetite to underwrite, with investors pressurised by the continued lack of deal flow. HSBC ranked first in the EMEA loans MLA table with 5.7% market share, the first time since 2008 that BNP Paribas (5.5%) did not hold the top position. BNP Paribas did however retain the top position in the EMEA bookrunner table. Barclays climbed five positions to rank third in with 4.5% market share. A total of 1,493 deals were signed, a decrease of 34 deals compared to last year. Australia & New Zealand syndicated loans volume totaled USD billion in, an increase of 9% from.
