1 Name Date World War II Project Introduction This activity will help you get a better understanding causes and World War II. The entire time frame for the project is fifteen class periods. We will be spending 10 days in the library researching, and 5 days in the computer lab creating the. The Task After researching dates and about key World War II you will create a Presentation on World War II. The Process Explore the websites listed on Mr. Geiss s class page, books, journals, and your textbook and take notes causes war, World War II, and events that ended the war. After conducting the research of World War II, compile the into a thirty-two slide Presentation on World War II. (1) Title Slide - Your first slide is to be your title slide on which you will give the title: World War II, your name, and a picture. (2) Causes War - On each of your you are to include some type of picture, drawing or graphic from your Internet research; the date and name cause war, and at least three about the cause war. (6) Major Events War in Europe - On each of your you are to include some type of picture, drawing or graphic from your Internet research; the date and name of a battle or event, and at least three about the battle or the event. All of your events will be arranged in chronological order. Be careful when using sites like Wikipedia and people s personal just for fun websites. Many times these sites contain inaccurate. Don t forget to PARAPHRASE the facts and you learn. PUT THE FACTS IN YOUR OWN WORDS. If you are caught plagiarizing (passing off somebody else s work as your own), you will receive a ZERO for the project. You may copy and paste photos from the internet, but be sure to include the source at the bottom photo. Ebsco, First Search Use one primary source A primary source is a document or physical object which was written or created during the time under study. These sources were present during an experience or time period and offer an inside view of a particular event. Some types of primary sources include: ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS (excerpts or translations acceptable): Diaries, speeches, manuscripts, letters, interviews, news film footage, autobiographies, official records CREATIVE WORKS: Poetry, drama, novels, music, art RELICS OR ARTIFACTS: Pottery, furniture, clothing, buildings Examples of primary sources include: Diary of Anne Frank - Experiences of a Jewish family during WWII The Constitution of Canada - Canadian History A journal article reporting NEW research or findings Weavings and pottery - Native American history Plato's Republic - Women in Ancient Greece What is a secondary source? A secondary source interprets and analyzes primary sources. These sources are one or more steps removed from the event. Secondary sources may have pictures, quotes or graphics of primary sources in them. Some types of seconday sources include: PUBLICATIONS: Textbooks, magazine articles, histories, criticisms, commentaries, encyclopedias
