Executive summary The dissemination activities undertaken by the ASK-IT consortium are supported through leaflets and posters (in four colours) which are being distributed at events and conferences. In order to address the changed consortium structure (additional partners, and partners that left), the leaflets have been updated, while the project poster was adjusted according to the comments of the reviewers during the December 2005 review. Also, a dedicated conference poster has been created for the ASK-IT conference (Mobility for All The Use of Ambient Intelligence in Addressing the Mobility Needs of People with Impairments: The Case of ASK-IT, Nice, the French Riviera, October, 2006, Boscolo Plaza Hotel, 12, Avenue de Verdun, Nice), while conference bags were also produced for this conference. This document accompanies these deliverables and describes the concept behind the applied dissemination tools. 1
1. Introduction In order to support the dissemination activities in ASK-IT project, e-isotis produced new dissemination material, namely leaflets in different sizes, project posters in different sizes and conference posters. A new version of the leaflets was needed to reflect the increased number of consortium partners, while the project poster was fine-tuned to meet the feedback received from reviewers. In addition, ASK-IT bags were produced, which will be handed out to the participants of the forthcoming ASK-IT conference. In total additional small leaflets (19,5 x 27 cm), additional big leaflets (23 x 33 cm), 500 conference posters in A3 format, ASK-IT posters (500 in A3 format and 600 large poster format of 100 x 70 cm), and 220 conference bags were produced. 2
2. Leaflet The leaflet addresses: The challenges ASK-IT faces The Mobility Impaired dimension targeted by ASK-IT The various disabilities that are being aimed to be assisted by ASK-IT The technical approach applied through the various S(ub)P(rojec)ts The extended consortium partners list The pilot cities In addition to this, during the conception of the leaflet, again special attention was paid to the clarity of the used text, in the sense that a light background has been used which allows enough contrast with the text. Furthermore, the URL of the ASK-IT website is repeated on various occasions in order to ensure a synergy between printed and online media channels. Communication is further strengthened through the incorporation of the contact details of the project leader Siemens (Spain), the technical and scientific leader CERTH/HIT (Greece) and the Dissemination leader e-isotis (Greece). For all, the telephone and contact details are included. The content has been validated and approved by the Dissemination Committee and all partners through an iterative process, while the design was validated by vision impaired users. In this respect also, the use of images was limited to those images that really contribute to the readability additional leaflets were produced in 2 different formats: small leaflets (19,5 x 27 cm), big leaflets (23 x 33 cm). 3
Figure 2-1: ASK-IT leaflet (19,5 x 27 cm, and 23 x 33 cm) 4
3. Posters (project, conference) and Awards e-isotis adjusted the previous poster, based on the comments received by the reviewers (see Figure 3-1: ASK-IT poster (A3 format, 40 x 30 cm, and large poster size 100 x 70 cm)). The poster displays a paper plane crossing the globe, having on its wings the 4 main SPs mentioned (but without mentioning SP1, SP2, etc.). This clearly demonstrates how the SPs contribute to the ASK-IT objectives, while the text clearly makes it understandable that the SPs aim at ensuring the mobility of mobility impaired users. The poster as such displays in a graphical, as well as textual way what ASK-IT is about, also clearly displaying the ASK-IT logo, the European Union flag, the FP6 and the IST logos. Also the text on the right was simplified, better explaining to the reader what ASK-IT aims at. At the bottom, the contact details are provided of the project leader Siemens (Spain), the technical and scientific leader CERTH/HIT (Greece) and the Dissemination leader e-isotis (Greece). For all, the telephone, and key person contact details are included additional ASK-IT posters were produced in 2 different formats: 500 small posters (A3, 40 x 30 cm) 600 large posters (100 x 70 cm). In addition, e-isotis also conceived a new poster for the forthcoming ASK-IT conference (Mobility for All The Use of Ambient Intelligence in Addressing the Mobility Needs of People with Impairments: The Case of ASK-IT, Nice, the French Riviera, October, 2006, Boscolo Plaza Hotel, 12, Avenue de Verdun, Nice) (see Figure 3-2). This poster follows entirely the look and feel of the new leaflets, while also presenting the various topics of the conference. In the background, the European countries have been put, indicating the European impact of the project. 500 ASK-IT project posters were produced (A3, 40 x 30 cm). 5

Figure 3-2: ASK-IT conference poster (A3 format, 40 x 30 cm) A similar look and feel has also been applied for the poster and paper awards that will be issued at the ASK-IT conference, and which will be printed locally ahead of the conference. 7

4. Conference bag 220 conference bags were produced for e-isotis, for dissemination at the registered participants, at the 1 st ASK-IT International Conference of in Nice, France. Figure 4-1: ASK-IT conference bag The conference bag, as featured in Figure 5: ASK-IT conference bag, carries the project logo, as well as the following text below the logo: ASK-IT: Ambient Intelligence System of Agents for Knowledge based and Integrated Services for Mobility Impaired Users SIXTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME PRIORITY IST einclusion Contract no. 13 5. Conclusion The created dissemination material has been the result of a cooperative exercise, taking into account the accessibility guidelines and the feedback received from people with vision impairments. The created material will be produced and be made available for dissemination at forthcoming events such as Net-atHome2006 (26-27 September 2006), and ITS World Congress - ExCeL London Exhibition (9-12 ), as well as the forthcoming ASK-IT conference of in Nice, France. All material will also be available for dissemination during all events and conferences that will be attended by ASK-IT consortium partners. 10
