1 2010 STATE WAGE CASE AND MINIMUM STANDARD FOR REMUNERATION The Full Industrial Relations Commission of South Australia handed down its 2010 State Wage Case and Minimum Standard for Remuneration Decision on 16 September The Commission awarded a 3.5% increase to State award wages and the Minimum Standard for Remuneration (minimum wage). The increase is operative from the first pay period on or after 1 October The wage rates in the attached rate sheet have been adjusted to reflect the Commission s Decision. However, it is important to note that, as from 1 January 2010, the rate sheet only applies to employers and employees in the South Australian public sector, local government and prescribed Government Business Enterprises. The whole of the SA private sector, including the non-government community services sector, private schools and universities, are now covered by the national industrial relations system. 2 Wages Rate Sheet for CARETAKERS AND CLEANERS AWARD Operative: First pay period commencing on or after 1 October 2010 (1) WEEKLY EMPLOYEES Weekly Rate Total per week CARETAKER: $ c if in charge of 3 to 10 employees $30.00 GRADE if in charge of 11 to 20 employees $44.80 GRADE if in charge of over 20 employees $57.10 Note: Ordinary Hours Of Work - see Clause 6.1 CASUAL EMPLOYEES CLEANERS: Weekly Rate Hourly Rate Hourly Rate $ c $ c $ c IN ORDINARY TIME MONDAY TO FRIDAY 120% 7.30am to 5.30pm GRADE GRADE GRADE Clause For all time worked between 5.30 pm and 7.30 am on the following day the ordinary hourly rates shall be increased by 30% of the full time ordinary hourly rate. GRADE 1 Extra Per Hour GRADE GRADE Clause Work which is regularly rostered to be performed between 5.30 pm and pm and which is regularly rostered to be completed not later than pm, the ordinary hourly rates shall be increased by 15% of the full time ordinary hourly rate. GRADE 1 Extra Per Hour GRADE GRADE (1) This sheet replaces that operative from 1 October 2009 and incorporates 2010 State Wage Case adjustments. Supervisory rates: Where a Grade 1 or Grade 2 Cleaner/Building Attendant is required to supervise other Cleaners/Building Attendants the following additional rates shall be paid - see Schedule 1, Clause S1.5: Notes if in charge of 3 to 10 employees Extra allowance per week $30.00 if in charge of 11 to 20 employees $44.80 if in charge of over 20 employees $57.10 Ordinary Hours of Work - see Clause 6.1 Overtime - Cleaners, see Clause 6.2, and Overtime - Caretakers - see Clause 6.3 Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays - Cleaners, see Clause 6.4, and Caretakers - see Clause 6.5 Caretaker - Afternoon and Night Shift - see Clause 6.7 WEEKLY AND PART-TIME EMPLOYEES Travelling and Meal Allowances - see Clauses 5.3 & 5.7 Where a caretaker is required to supervise cleaners he/she shall be paid the following additional rates - see Schedule 1, Clause S1.2.2: Important note: As from 1 January 2010, this rate sheet applies to employers and employees in the South Australian public sector, local government and prescribed Government Business Enterprises ONLY.
