10 Regional PHTC Program Purpose The purpose of the Regional PHTC Program is to improve the nation s public health system by strengthening the technical, scientific, managerial and leadership competencies of the current and future public health workforce. Primary audience: Governmental public health staff Secondary audience: Staff from other parts of the public health system

12 SOUTH CENTRAL PHTC S MISSION Strengthen the technical, managerial, and leadership competence of the current public health workforce Advance the knowledge and skills of the future public health workforce. Center on competency-based, practice-focused courses addressing core functions and essential services; Formal needs assessments in the south central region. Courses on-site or distance delivery modalities An extensive evaluation program for both curricula and the Center as a whole.

14 WRPHTC Mission: Develop, provide and monitor need-based trainings for current and future public health workers and to strengthen their public health competencies. Also, provide additional expertise on nutrition, physical activity and obesity to the national network of PHTCs.
