2 THE EIFFEL TOWER Name: The Eiffel Tower is a very famous tower in France. It is located in Paris, the capital city of France. Paris is in the North of France. About people live in Paris. People from Paris speak French. There are very important monuments in Paris like the Notre Dame Cathedral, The Louvre Museum or the Champs Eliseess. Also, Paris is famous for fashion and its restaurants. The Seine River is a very important river in Paris. Paris is also called the city of love. The Eiffel Tower is a communication tower. It is also called the magician of iron. It was constructed in 1887 to celebrate the 100 th anniversary of the French revolution. Gustave Eiffel was the designer. At first, people from Paris, especially artists, didn't like the tower. But later they loved it. The construction of the Eiffel tower took about two years. The Eiffel tower is made of iron. It weighs tons. It is 324 metres tall and it has stairs with steps. Also, there are elevators to the top. At the top of the tower, there is a panoramic view of Paris. Also, at the top of the tower there is an antenna. This antenna is 24 metres long. 2
3 The four pillars supporting the tower are aligned to the points of the compass, North, South, East and West. They need 60 tons of paint to paint the tower. It is painted every 7 years.there are restaurants on the first and the second platforms. Now, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most famous symbols of Paris, France and Europe. More than 200 million people have visited the tower. Lots of tourists from around the world visit it every year. There are lots of souvenirs of the Eiffel tower.
