14 Introduction: Toxicology Risk = hazard x exposure x individual sensitivity - Amount - Duration of work (in MSDS often 8hr) - Frequency (in MSDS every day of the week) - Subject (Male/Female, Age, ) - Route of exposure 26

15 Introduction: Psychology Safety is about people - Common sense - Common sense is subjective, based on a person s everyday selective experiences and biased interpretation of those experiences Scientific proof is what counts. (eg water instead of diphoterine) - Accepting rules - Depends on personal factors, culture, respect for authority,... - Mutual responsibility - Who is responsible for safety? - Giving positive feedback - Everyone is accountable for his actions 27
