1 DreamHack Summer 2011 Starcraft 2 Rules Information Prizes 1 st place: SEK + Wildcard to DreamHack Winter nd place: SEK + Wildcard to DreamHack Winter rd place: SEK 4 th place: SEK To receive a prize in the tournament, the player must attend the prize ceremony and official photo shoot; and hand in appropriate information and papers to DreamHack. More information available here: Eligibility All players who are to enter the BYOC qualifier must purchase a computer seat at the event and bring a computer. It is not enough to buy a visitors ticket and borrow a computer at the event. All players who are to play in the main tournament must purchase an event ticket, 450 SEK at the event. A player with a slot in the main tournament, is not allowed to play any of the BYOC tournaments. Players will wildcards won from earlier events, will not have to purchase any ticket. To sign up to play the BYOC qualifier, all players must be able to show proof of applicable ticket purchase, row and seat number if a computer seat, and a valid phone number. For the main tournament each player must also provide Battle.net account and Character Name and Number. Format The main tournament will include 48 players. Two players will be qualified in DreamHacks partners qualifications around Europe and another two will qualify on spot in the BYOC qualifier at DreamHack Summer The qualifier has another set of rules. The BYOC qualifier will be a double elimination bracket with the two finalists getting a spot in the main tournament. The rest of the players will be determined by DreamHack administrators from the application list. The group stage will be played in eight groups of six players, the two top players from each group will move on to the play-offs.

2 Schedule The seed will be decided by won matches, won games and who won the group stage match between possibly tied players. Should there be a three way tie, a tie breaker will be played between the tied players, format will be BO1. The 16 players in the play-offs will go through a single elimination bracket to determine the winner. The bracket will be decided by a random draft, live on the official DreamHack stream, after all groups have been decided. These timings may come to change as the tournament progresses, all times are in CEST. An administrator has the final say in all matters. When the administrator says the word is final, the word is final and cannot be overruled. Under extreme circumstances administrators reserve the right to change the rules.

4 General Rules Server All games must be played on the European Battle.net server. Game Preparations The players should arrive at the tournament area - or DreamArena Extreme if the match will be played there - at least 45 minutes before their match starts. Each player will get at least 30 minutes to warm up before a match. If the player is late, the warm up time will be shortened. Should a player be late (less than 10 minutes) for the start of a tournament match, the player will forfeit the first game of the match. Should the player be more than 10 minutes late for the start of a tournament match, the player will forfeit the match. The players are allowed a 5 minute break between the games in a tournament match. Administrators reserve the right to change these timings if circumstances require it. Disconnects and computer failure If either player disconnects from the game due to technical reasons and the game is heavily favoured to the extent that the game would definitely have been won by one player an administrator may rule the game in favour of said player. Should the game be too close to call, it will be replayed. Complaints If a player wants to make a complaint about a game result, the player has to tell the administrator assigned to the match immediately following the game. If a player wants to object a game result ruled by an administrator, this has to take place immediately following the game. Replays Official tournament replay packages will be made, until they are published, no replays from the tournament are allowed to be shared with the public. Tiebreakers Should a group end in a tie, the game results will if possible determine which player moves on to the playoffs. Should this not be possible, the players involved will play another BO3 round, and keep playing until the group can be decided.

5 Maps The tournament map pool includes the following maps: GSTL GSL Terminus SE, GSTL GSL Xel'Naga Caverns, GSTL GSL Crossfire SE, GSTL GSL Tal'Darim Altar LE, GSTL GSL Crevasse, TSL3 Metalopolis, ESL Shakuras Plateau. Every tournament game will be played on maps from the tournament map pool only. Each player will blindly veto one map from the pool. The maps will then be randomly chosen of those remaining. Punishments Tournament Area Should a player purposely attempt to sabotage the games, another player or an administrator in any way, the player will be disqualified. Bad behaviour towards other players, administrators or the audience may result in a disqualification. Only the players who are scheduled to play a tournament match are allowed to enter the tournament area. One person is allowed to accompany the player in the tournament area.

6 In game rules Chatting Game settings Bugs and Misuse No excessive chatting is allowed in the game. If the need to chat occurs the players must be straight to the point and polite. Ideally the only chat in each game will be in the start and when a player surrenders the game. No chat is ever permitted from a player to an outside party during a tournament match, or from an outside party to the player, unless the outside party is an administrator. After a few minutes, typing GG in the game means that the player surrenders, and the opponent wins. After it is typed the player must leave the game immediately. Each game must be played in Faster mode. Every player must set their online status to Busy. Every player must turn off notifications. Every player must use full screen or windowed full screen. No other IM applications, or streams are allowed to be running in the background. The automatic replay saving functionality must be enabled. No abuse of bugs in the game is allowed in any tournament match. If a player is clearly allowing the opposite player to win, said player may be warned or disqualified pending how clearly the match was lost on purpose. Observers and Streaming The two team colours must be Red and Blue. If the players cannot agree on who gets which colour, an administrator will randomly pick for them. No observers are allowed in any tournament games, except for assigned streamers and administrators. Players may not watch or listen to the stream of the tournament while playing. Pausing If a player must pause the game due to technical difficulties the player must if possible tell the opponent about this before pausing. After pausing the player must inform an administrator. If a game is paused without a reasonable explanation such as a technical difficulty the game might result in a forfeit.

7 Racepicking Draws and stalemates Each player signs up to the tournament with one set race. If a player wants to change the race before a match, an administrator must be notified, and the new race must be played throughout the whole match. The administrator must be told at least 30 minutes before scheduled match start, or as soon as the previous match ends. The administrator will then tell the opponent. As soon as a player joins or creates a game he is to choose his playing race. If a player deliberately plays for a stalemate, administrators hold the right to decide the outcome of the game. If there is a natural stalemate the game will be replayed.
