1 Introduction Reading instructions is something most people dislike. So we tried very hard to design this product as simple as possible with only one button and having what looks like a credit card, which is in fact an encrypted chip card that tells your ProB hand spray what to do for you (see cards paragraph). You just place the appropriate card in the slot and the small screen tells you what is happening. This is State of the art SAFE sunless tanning for professional users. You can select different colour densities just by the card you place in the slot. It enables you to repeatedly give the client the same perfect results every time because it is monitoring what you do during every session and logging your performance. ProB is a business assistant making reports session by session, day by day, stored indefinitely for you (it is a complete history). The data is very accurate telling you precisely how much DHA you use on every stroke and every session. If you want you can use it to calculate what you charge the client or what income should be in the cash register. It even reports on the condition of the liquid you are using advising if it is getting out of date or damaged by temperature etc. Portable in metal case with little wheels so it can be used in the salon or easily taken to do home tan parties. The ProB Sunless Tanning HandSpray uniquely uses chip cards to give instructions to the machine, decide colour of tan and access the interactive training and reporting features etc. These special chip cards are supplied with the machine. You will see details of these cards in the following instructions. Remove all packaging Getting Started The inside of the tank and all the tubes were factory cleaned so take care not to contaminate. The top of the tank should only be removed for filling. The auto mixing feature works when the pump is running and if the top is off the tank there may be loss of DHA. Plug your ProB hand spray into the power and you will see this Logo on the screen. (BECAUSE YOUR MACHINE HAS NO LIQUID AND NO CREDITS LOADED YET, THIS WILL NEED TO BE DONE AS explained IN the FILLING AND PURGING PARAGRAPH ) L O G O p r o v o c a t i v e - b e a u t y. c o m After 5 seconds the screen shows the DHA factory set expiry date, which will change when you re-fill with tanning liquid and credits, it also shows the default setting of sound ON. Then it shows the default spray credits loaded, time, how many credits used last session and how many strokes last session. D H A E X P I R E S : S o u n d " O N " C r e d i t s : : 2 5 L a s t s e s s i o n : / 0 0 S P R A Y NOTE: Every bottle of ProB DHA tanning liquid has an encrypted electronic ID card (REFILL CARD), attached to the bottle. This card holds all details of the production of this batch of DHA including electronic serial number, expiry date and formula details. This data must be fed into the ProB hand spray. See below how to do this C A R D 1

2 Filling the Empty Tank and Purging Air Step 1: Step 2: Step 3: Step 4: Simply take the Credits Card off the tanning liquid bottle and place it in the card slot for just 2 seconds. This automatically loads the credits and sets the system to accept the liquid. You will see the credits on the screen have increased. Half fill the tank with the required spraying liquid. It is good idea to have a small bowl of clean water nearby when filling or changing tanning liquid, so that you can immediately place your hands in if you get splashed by the tanning liquid. This avoids accidently stained hands. Unplug the machine from the power supply Place the Purge card in the card slot. Step 5: Plug the machine into the power supply and you will see this image on the screen. A i m n o z z l e i n t a n k Step 6: Step 7: With tank top removed place the pistol nozzle directly into the tank. NOTE: WHEN YOU PRESS THE PISTOL TRIGGER THE PURGING PROCESS AUTOMATICALLY RUNS AND CANNOT BE INTERRUPTED Press the trigger. The nozzle will spray continuously for 20 seconds, then stop for 20 seconds - then spray again for 20 seconds. You may hear air bubbles coming out of the nozzle during this process. (If necessary wait 5 minutes and repeat steps 3-7 to be sure all air is removed) P u r g e c o m p l e t e R e m o v e C a r d Remove the Purge card and the expiry date of DHA credits is shown. After 5 seconds it will show the screen with flashing Spray Card indicating the system is ready to use D H A E X P I R E S : S o u n d " O N " C r e d i t s : : 2 8 L a s t s e s s i o n : / 0 0 2

3 Using the Hand Spray Before commencing with spraying familiarise yourself with the product and read the instructions and the spraying plan. We also recommend that you first practice a few times using water only so that you are confident before using tanning liquid. There is also a training mode so that you can rehearse the speed of the strokes required to achieve an even coverage of the body. With the screen flashing SPRAY CARD, place one of the 3 Spray cards in the card slot. When the Spray card is inserted the pump starts and the screen shows which colour density you have selected. Tan 1 = LIGHT Tan 2 = MEDIUM Tan 3 = DARK Press the trigger to start spraying, the screen shows how many credits you have used and how many strokes you made so far. When you finish spraying remove the Spray card which stops the pump and resets the machine ready for the next session. The screen shows spray totals, which can be used to calculate the price you charge the client, it also keeps you informed how consistent your spraying is and how much liquid was used. (Total is logged permanently but will only be seen on screen till the next session.) C r e d i t s : : 2 8 L a s t s e s s i o n : / 0 0 T A N : 1 C R E D I T U S E D / C r e d i t s : : 2 8 L a s t s e s s i o n : / 1 4 SPRAY PLAN This spray plan is designed to make it easy for an operator with little experience to achieve good spray tanning results. The entire body can be covered in just 14 strokes of the pistol as shown in the diagram. The plan also gives each stroke a value. This value is the number of audible beeps/laser flashes you should count whilst the pistol is being moved along the entire stroke path. Hold the pistol approximately 30cm from the target and move smoothly along the stroke path. When spraying, try to keep the laser in the centre of the target area. See the video demonstration on our website at 3

4 Credits refill card To ensure it is not possible to interfere with the quality of the tanning liquid and to preserve the integrity of the Provocative Beauty formulas there is an automatic DHA loading protocol, which is software controlled to maintain the desired health and safety standards. Every bottle of ProB DHA tanning liquid has an electronic chip ID card (REFILL CARD) attached to the bottle, this card holds all the details of the production of this batch of DHA including electronic serial number, expiry date and formula details. This data must be fed into the ProB hand spray by placing the card in the cart slot for just 2 seconds. This automatically sets the system to accept the liquid. How to load the credits and fill the tank. Place the Credits card in the card slot any time prior to loading the liquid into the tank. You will see this screen confirming the data has been loaded so the machine is ready to accept the liquid. (YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMPLETELY FILL THE TANK, BUT ALWAYS KEEP THE LIQUID ABOVE THE SILVER LINE.) Remove the Credits refill card and you will see the credits on the screen have increased accordingly and the machine is ready c r e d i t s l o a d e d S T O R E C A R D F O R S E R V I C E C r e d i t s : : 2 5 L a s t s e s s i o n : / 1 4 CARDS Temperature analysis Because it is very important that ALL DHA tanning products are stored within temperature guidelines this is a special card to give you a brief report regarding the temperature in the hand spray case during the last 14/28 days. The temperature is being automatically measured and recorded every 15 minutes 24 hours a day 7 days a week, even when the machine is not plugged in. Place the Temperature card in the slot and you will see this image which shows the max/min temperatures for the last 14 days and 28 days. Below +2 o c will destroy the DHA very quickly and the maximum recommended continuous temperature is 21 o c. The ideal temperature for long shelf life is between +4 o c and +15 o c for maximum product life. 5 Clock setting To set the clock, use the hour or minute card. Simply place the appropriate card in the card slot and press the trigger button and the hours or minutes will advance till it is released. Removing the card automatically restarts the clock. 2 2 : 2 5 CARDS Sound enable/disable The audio beeps are synchronised to the laser guide and are a fundamental feature that helps you to consistently reproduce the same results time after time, so we recommend you use them to utilise all features. However, when the beeps are turned off the laser will continue to flash to guide you. To turn the beeps on or off the Sound card should be momentarily placed and removed in the card slot. The sound feature toggles between "ON" and "OFF" and is indicated as shown. 2 2 : 2 8 S O U N D O F F CARDS Lock secures system The Lock card enables the Hand Spray to be quickly locked to prevent unauthorised use. When the hand spray is plugged into the electricity supply simply place the Lock card in the card slot to reveal the Locked logo then remove the card. It will remain locked until the lock card is again placed in the slot for 2-3 seconds. The system has been successfully un-locked when you see this screen. 6 Purge to remove air Use this card when filling the system for the first time or when changing the DHA for a lighter or darker colour, or maybe you have been using water for training purposes and need to re-load with DHA tanning liquid. Or maybe you have accidently run the machine dry and have got air into the system. Step 1: If you are changing the liquid from one colour to another or if you have water in the tank because you were training, then empty the tank of water or old DHA by syphoning the contents into a suitable container. Step 2o: Half fill the tank with the required spraying liquid. DO NOT PRESS THE PISTOL TRIGGER UNTIL STEP 5 Step 3: With the machine off (NOT plugged in) place the Purge card into the card slot. Now plug the machine into the power supply and you will see this image on the screen. A i m n o z z l e i n t a n k P r e s s t r i g g e r Step 4: With the tank top removed place the pistol nozzle directly into the tank. NOTE: WHEN YOU PRESS THE PISTOL TRIGGER THE PURGING PROCESS AUTOMATICALLY RUNS AND CANNOT BE INTERRUPTED Step 5: Press the trigger. The nozzle will spray continuously for 20 seconds into the tank, then it will stop for 20 seconds, then spray again for another 20 seconds. You may hear air bubbles coming out of the nozzle during this process. K E E P N O Z Z L E I N T A N K P L E A S E W A I T After purging is complete you will see this image that is telling you to remove the Purge card. (If necessary wait 5 minutes and repeat steps 3,4,5 to be sure all air is removed) P u r g e c o m p l e t e R e m o v e C a r d When you remove the Purge card and the expiry date of the DHA is shown and the status of the sound feature. 7 Analysis reports & analysis The ProB Sunless Tanning Hand Spray is not just a hand spray. It is a business assistant, helping you monitor and control your spraying business activities. It also gives assistance to perfect your spraying technique and keep it consistent. Analysis reports show you after every application how you are doing and all data is permanently stored in the computer control system. There are 5 easy to access reports that can be displayed on the screen and for more detail it can be connected to a pc with the required software (optional). You do not need to fear the system it really is very straight forward and simple to use. We encourage you to play with it and experiment during your training phase. To start the analysis program connect the ProB hand spray to the mains supply and wait for this screen image. Credits/Sessions Report Place the Analysis card in the card slot and the screen will change to this display. It shows that during the last 30 days you used 1344 credits and you sprayed 28 people. So on average you used 48 credits per customer. The number of credits will vary depending on the Spray card used and the amount you sprayed. This also shows the totals for 60/90 days so you know how consistent your technique is over time. Temperature Report As explained in the DHA Storage paragraph there are maximum and minimum temperatures required in which to store DHA tanning products. This screen shows the max./min. temperature your hand spray system has been experiencing for the last 30/60/90 days. If you are concerned about the report data please contact our help desk. Colour Density Report On this screen you can see the number of sessions in the last 30 days for each colour setting used. (Light Medium Dark) This assists you to monitor and control how much of each colour density you used. Sessions Total Report This is an easy quick check to see how many clients you have sprayed since your machine was first used. In a salon where many people operate the machine you can monitor if cash receipts match the number of clients. Credits Loaded Report On this screen you can see the last 3 re-loads of credits and the dates the re-loads occurred. Note all re-loads are stored in the log files and can be accessed via pc with software. (PRESSING THE TRIGGER AGAIN WILL TAKE YOU BACK TO THE FIRST ANALYSIS SCREEN.) 8 Training rehearsing strokes The ProB Sunless Tanning Hand Spray is designed to eliminate human error wherever possible. The heavy duty spray uses a very special nozzle to create a pattern of spray illuminated by ultra-bright pistol lights so you can see it clearly hitting the target. It also has a laser to show the point of contact and indicate the speed of pistol movement required across the body. The Training card enables you to practice spraying without actually spraying liquid. Place the training card in the slot and you will see this training display. ( THE PUMP WILL NOT BE RUNNING ) T R A I N I N G It is now possible to start your practice session. Point the pistol at the part of the body you are going to pretend to spray. Keep the pistol approx. 30cm away from the skin. Simultaneously press the button and start to move the pistol along the stroke line indicated on the plan below. As you make this practice stroke you will hear a LOW tone at the beginning of the stroke followed by high beeps. Synchronised with the beeps the pistol laser will flash at the intended point of contact. All you need do is count the beeps or flashes that occur during the stroke. For example to spray from foot to shoulder you will aim the pistol at the ankle and press the trigger, the low beep will sound and you will move the gun up the body to the shoulder counting 5 high tone beeps and laser flashes. Your stroke and the fifth beep should finish together and the number 5 will appear on the screen. Practice a few times to master the timing and that is all there is to it. Simple.. T R A I N I N G - 5 When you have finished rehearsing just remove the Training card and the normal screen will appear ready for real spraying DHA Storage ProB formulas use Dihydroxyacetone DHA and sometimes Erythrulose as the main tanning agent. Both these components are sensitive to temperature and can be damaged if certain guidelines are not followed. Storage of the product must never go below +2 o c and max temperature is 21 o c. Damage caused by the upper temperature is slower than damage caused by lower temperatures. Damage caused by higher temperatures is often indicated by the colour of the liquid. In Good condition the colour should be nearly clear like water. If the colour looks like tea then damage has already occurred. Storage of the product should be in refrigerator if possible with the control set to 1 IT MUST NOT GO BELOW 0 o c DHA damaged by temperature may give a patchy tanning result or streaking. We have very strict procedures and a documented environmental condition data trail in place to ensure that all our components are kept in perfect conditions before production and after production so we always deliver fresh product to you with maximum shelf-life. 8
