PA TRAINER, MS MARIA TARCILA DELGADO Ms Delgado is part of the first cohort of PA Trainers who have received special training under Project Common Grounds; a collaboration between PA and Runninghour, a cooperative that promotes integration of people with special needs. Project Common Grounds provides platforms for persons of special needs to participate in regular PA courses and Interest Groups. Trainers are taught to enhance their curriculum to make it enjoyable and inclusive for everyone. Ms Delgado s Zumba Fitness class at Toa Payoh East CC has welcomed two participants with special needs. She plans her classes to ensure simple moves are taught before progressing to more complex steps. Participants feel more confident and are able to enjoy the catchy music. She also makes extra effort to create a fun environment for learning by encouraging her participants to bond by taking pictures and spending time together before and after classes.
