Muhalhal Executive director of Treated sewage effluent National water company National Water Company National water company (NWC), a Saudi joint stock company fully owned by the government (namely the public investment fund), was established to provide water and wastewater services in accordance with the latest international standards by the concerted efforts of national cadres working together with certain international operators. NWC focuses on providing drinking water of high quality for all customers, providing all households with water and wastewater connections, the preservation of natural water resources the protection of the environment, making maximum use of the Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE), and the development and training of qualified Saudi employees in accordance with latest international standards. 1

2 TSE Business unit at NWC The National Water company (NWC) improves sanitation service whilst conserving natural water resources, and producing treated water (TSE) within high quality that can be reused in many non-human applications: oversee the production of treated water according to the international best standards of treatment In the collection of treatment of industrial waste water In the sale of treated water and to customer through tankers or pipes across the kingdom of Saudi Arabia provide TSE with different quality levels suitable for many applications The objective of the TSE (Treated Sewage Effluent) initiative is to effectively utilize the currently wasted resources by creating an environmentally friendly and financially sustainable long term market for treated sewage effluent Why do we need to recycle wastewater? In arid areas, due to water scarcity, treated waste water can be used for a reuse application such as land or golf irrigation. Water recycling avoid water shortages and protects water resources. Water recycling is safe, environmentally sustainable and cost effective for decision makers who care about environmental resources for operating cost reduction, municipalities and industry are smart to invest in reuse installations to reduce their fresh water consumption.
