4 Installation Tips Follow instructions carefully. Lay out and identify all parts from parts list provided before starting. If screen room is installed together with a Styleline Roll Formed Pan Roof, complete patio cover installation before starting screen room. See Styleline Pan Roof installation instructions. If room is installed under an existing conventional roof system, leave support posts in place. To avoid scratching the painted finish, use package materials as work base. For attaching base receiving channel to concrete slab and possibly wall channel to masonry wall, screen room kits contain an adequate number of drive anchors or installer can purchase local anchors. Optimize the material which is supplied in 16' length. Ex. - if walls are over 8' tall, use leftover 2x2 as horizontals in place of 1x2. Styleline has several types of screen including fiberglass, Better-Vu, petscreen, aluminum and solar sun screen. Horizontal chair rail recommended by Styleline at height of 24-36" from floor. Styleline suggests 2x2 horizontals for future windows. Styleline has several window option available for a three season room. These instructions are written as guide only and do not overrule State or county building codes. You should follow those applicable code requirements. 5 1. WALL RECEIVING CHANNEL INSTALLATION (under existing roof system) A. Measure distance "A" (Figure 2) and cut wall receiving channel to that length. Locate at wall in same relative position as top front receiving channel and using level as shown in Figure 3, mark location. B. Mark location of holes through receiving channel onto the wall, approximately 16" apart. C. If masonry wall, use 1/4" masonry drill bit and drill marked holes. (Normally 1/4" x 1 1/4" drive anchors are used and furnished with the room). If wood siding, use suggested #10 x 1 1/2" long zinc plated lag screws. D. Remove backing and apply self adhering foam tape to back of expander (Figure 4) if needed, and fasten to wall. E. Repeat these steps on the opposite side. 6

6 2. TOP and BASE RECEIVING CHANNEL INSTALLATION A. Locate base channel by using a level post from outside corner of where top receiving channel will be. Note: Before attaching base channel, refer to floor plan provided with order to determine where door is to be placed. Typically 36" of bottom expander must be cut out for door installation. B. Snap chalk line from outside corner to wall to locate base channel. (Directly under the base channel, mark and drill 1/4" holes in concrete with masonry bit). Insert drive anchors and fasten in place. C. Repeat these steps on the opposite side. D. After base receiving channel is fastened down, drill 3/16" hole and create an oval (move drill bit side to side) "weep" holes in the outside surface approximately 48" apart. E. F. Location of top receiving channel (projection) begins at the wall expander, which is approximately 12"-24" back from the front width of fascia/gutter (Figure 3). Repeat process for opposite side. Location of top front receiving channel (width) will be approximately 12"-24" in from outside edge of fascia/gutter (Figure 5) so that top receiving channel can be fastened to the bottom of a pan style roof or to the existing roof system. See below for fastening information. 7

7 3. INSTALLATION OF VERTICAL POSTS (SRF-22) A. Measure height "A" as shown in Figure 6 at each corner of enclosure between top and base receiving channel. B. C. Install (4) screws through receiving channel and into corner posts at top and bottom. D. Insert corner posts inside the base and top receiving channel in their respective corners. Make sure these corner posts are perpendicular by using a level and that screen grooves are always toward the outside of the enclosure. Using floor plan provided as reference, continue installing all vertical posts, making sure that screen grooves are always facing outside. Vertical posts are cut to desired heights, adjusting for pitch of patio cover or uneven floor slab. NOTE: Vertical posts are placed in wall receiving channels so screen grooves are exposed. 8

INSTALLATION OF BOTTOM HORIZONTAL SUPPORTS Use a piece of SRF-12 (if kick panel used) or a SRF-22 ( if full screen) cut to the exact opening between the vertical support posts, square cut to size. Fasten horizontal support to base receiving channel with installation screws (both sides) provided. NOTE: Before securing horizontal piece, verify that kickplate/screen groove is to the outside. B. Continue inserting bottom horizontal supports in line with each other, except in doorway. A. B. C. 5. INSTALLATION OF KICKPLATE & HORIZONTAL SUPPORT Cut kickplate 3/4" longer than horizontal opening. Cuts can be made with shears or by scoring with utility knife and then bending back & forth until broken. Apply silicone into kickplate grooves before inserting kickplate - helps to avoid rattling. Insert F-Clip at each end of the horizontal support, which is cut 1/16" less than the length of bottom support. Place horizontal support on top of inserted kickplate and secure by installing screws (2 per clip). (See Figure 7) Continue inserting all horizontal supports in line and level with each other. NOTE: Horizontal supports should be level from front panel back to wall and across front of enclosure. Use string to determine level height and trim kickplate bottoms with shears before securing kickplate horizontal supports in place. 9

9 A. 6. INSTALLATION OF TOP HORIZONTAL SUPPORT Install top horizontal supports same as in Step 4. Caution is suggested to make sure the screen groove is properly exposed to outside. This is necessary for screen installation and possible future replacement (See Figure 8). Note: Due to pitch of roof system, top horizontal supports in top receiving channel will not be perfectly level, but rather at an angle equal to drop of roof. 10

10 A. B. A. B. C. 7. INSTALLATION OF HORIZONTAL SUPPORT ABOVE DOOR Install a 2"x2" horizontal support (SRF-22) using 2 F-Clips (FC-22) in the door opening at the standard height of 80" up from floor. This support creates the opening for the door. Verify the screen grooves are to the outside (See Figure 8). Confirm there is a horizontal support into the top receiving channel. NOTE: If a solid transom (i.e. kickplate) is to be above the door, this needs to be cut and installed at this time. 8. SCREEN CLOTH INSTALLATION Screen cloth widths are wider than the openings between vertical posts. 100' rolls are furnished in 24"- 54" widths. Starting at the top, press the spline with the screen behind it into the groove in the horizontal support. Stretch horizontally and install with a screen roller, being careful not to rip cloth. (See Figure 9) Let the screen roll down. Measure distance between screen grooves at top and above kickplate and cut a piece of spline to that dimension. Starting at the top on left or right side, insert the spline, forcing screen into groove and roll it in working down to bottom. Stretch screen by hand and repeat same step on the opposite side. Use the same procedure from top to bottom. 9. DOOR & HARDWARE INSTALLATION A. Refer to Styleline installation instructions which came with door and door hardware 11
