If selected to work this summer, you will find this to be much more than a summer job; our staff will have the opportunity to grow in their spiritual walk, while living in a community of faith. All summer staff will live on-site with room & board as part of your compensation. Because we live in a community with children 6 days a week, time off is generally scheduled weekly from Friday evening through Sunday at 9AM. Riverside Camp and Retreat Center is located near LaBelle, FL 20 miles east of Ft. Myers. We are an outdoor ministry of the United Methodist Church that serves all ages and all denominations from all walks of life. The summer camping ministry at Riverside includes: day and resident camp programs for children ages 5-17 as well as single and multi-day retreats. 2 Riverside Summer 2016 Staff Opportunities Counselor Will have an opportunity to work with our resident and day camp programs. Counselors will have daily hands on experience with campers and leading them throughout their days in programs, worship and Bible studies. Must be at least 18 years of age. Lifeguard Will be primarily focused on the water safety of campers while they are participating in activities on the river and at the swimming pool. Must be Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid & CPR for the Professional Rescuer certified. These certifications must be up to date and applicants will need to be able to provide a copy of their certification cards. Applicants need to be at least 16 years of age. Target Sports Will lead campers through our target sports program including archery and sling shots. This position also has an opportunity to lead campers through our Outdoor Wilderness Living Skills (O.W.L.S.) program. Applicants need to be at least 17 years of age. Arts & Crafts/Drama Responsible for leading all day and resident campers through age appropriate and varied arts and crafts and drama activities throughout their week. This position will also be responsible for the upkeep of the Arts and Crafts facility including material requests. Applicants need to be at least 17 years of age. Environmental Education Have the opportunity to lead both day and resident campers through various activities to allow them to explore God s creation around them. Applicants need to be at least 17 years of age. Team Sports What s more fun than playing all day? This position will lead campers through various team sports and group games on our play field and courts. Applicants need to be at least 17 years of age. Health Coordinator This position organizes and distributes all medicines for all campers while they are at camp. This is also the first point of contact at camp for all exceptional staff and camper health issues. We prefer a health student (EMT, LPN or RN) for this position but it is not necessary. Applicants should be at least 21 years of age. Support Staff Areas of support can vary between Kitchen, Housekeeping and Facilities. These applicants need to be at least 16 years of age. Worship Coordinator This position is responsible for coordinating all large group worship: which includes music, location and set up; and will act as the liaison for the Minister of the Week (M.O.W.). Applicants should be at least 18 years of age.
