2 Recent Job Growth In All Industries DFW employment grew an annualized 3.1 percent in December with the addition of 8,800 jobs. The strong increase in December was due to payroll expansion in both Dallas and Fort Worth metro areas, a departure from the previous two months when Fort Worth employment shrank. - Source: Dallas FED In 2015, employment in Dallas expanded 4.5 percent (106,200 jobs) while it ticked up 0.5 percent (5,400 jobs) in Fort Worth Employment Growth Dallas-Fort Worth Texas Middle-Skill Jobs Are Critical To The DFW Economy 960,000 Middle-skill jobs currently in the DFW region. 3 Health Care Leads Middle-Skill Demand In Dallas-Fort Worth According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, health-related occupations will add the most new jobs to the economy nearly one-third of the total increase through Fourteen of the top 20 fastest-growing jobs listed by America s Career Infonet are in health care occupations. 5 An Occupation Gap is based on a forecast comparing potential occupation demand growth to the local population growth and the projected educational attainment of those residents. Potential Occupation Gaps Over 10 Years In Dallas County - Source: JobsEQ, 2015, Q3 Addressing the Gap The capacity for expansion of nursing programs in North Texas is greatly impacted by the shortage of clinical sites within hospital settings, particularly for Associate Degree nursing programs. Approximately 800 students conduct clinical rotations per year. These clinical rotations are essential for high quality nursing learning experiences for both colleges and universities. To this end, the ability for academic institutions to work with hospital systems regarding clinical rotation placement is essential to meet our current and future workforce projections.
