November 1985: Hannover Declaration Defines the skeleton of EUREKA s governance Objective of EUREKA s Initiative: Raise closer cooperation among enterprises and research institutes in the field of advanced technologies, the productivity and competitiveness of Europe s industries and national economies on the world market, and hence strengthen the basis for lasting prosperity and employment. 7

25 4) Eurostars Programme European Joint Programme dedicated to the R&D performing SMEs, and co-funded by 34 EUREKA countries and the European Union. Aims to stimulate these SMEs to lead international collaborative research and innovation projects by easing access to support and funding. 25
