3 the bolded text is what would be repeated back during a walk-thru - see the video for more - introduction There are 66 books in the Bible. 39 are in the Old Testament 27 are in the New Testament The Old Testament covers a period of approximately 4,000 years. 4,000 years that s 48,000 months... 1,301,000 days... 31,224,000 hours...

4 chronological books A! the books fit into 12 chronological books. They are: Genesis, Exodus Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah

5 the first 2,000 years The first book of the Bible is Genesis. The first 12 chapters of Genesis covers 2,000 years in the Old Testament.

8 abraham and isaac So Abraham packed his bags and went around the fertile crescent to a town ca!ed Haron which was barren. You can remember the names of the people who went by the word, SALT. Sarah, Abraham, Lot & Terah. Image courtesy of Google Earth

9 abraham and isaac They stayed there for 30 years until Terah died. They came down into the land but they had a problem! They had no children! So Abraham took Hagar and she had a son whose name was Ishmael. Ishmael was not the son of promise. Fina!y, Sarah had a son, Isaac, and he was the son of promise. 10 sold him into bondage... jacob and joseph Jacob had 12 sons and one daughter. The second to the youngest son s name was Joseph. His brothers didn t like him very much, so they threw him in a pit, sold him into bondage, and sent him down to Egypt where he lived for 30 years.

11 captivity and wandering A"er 30 years there was a famine in the land. His whole family moved down for 30 years until he died, the Pharaoh died, new pharaoh hit the scene, didn t like what he saw and put them into bondage for 400 years. 400 years that s 4,800 months ,900 days... 3,381,600 hours...

12 captivity and wandering A"er 400 years, the people cried out, God get us out of this mess! So God ca!ed a man named Moses and told him to go down and te! Pharaoh to let my people go! So, Moses when down and told Pharaoh, let my people go, but Pharaoh said No! So God performed the 10 plagues, we ca! them the 10 miracles. Fina!y Pharaoh said Ok! Image courtesy of Google Earth

13 captivity and everyone 20 years and older dies... wandering Moses led the people through the Red Sea up to Mount Sinai where God gave hime the 10 Commandments. Moses then led the people up to Kadesh Barnea where he sent 12 spies into the land. The spies came back and 10 said No Go!, 2 said Let s Go!. The people voted and said No Go! So God said because of your disobedience, you re going to wander in the wilderness for 40 years until everyone 20 years and older dies.

14 captivity and wandering So they wandered around in the wilderness for 40 years until everyone 20 years and older died. Then Moses brought the people up to Mt. Nebo, where Moses died. A new leader hits the scene, General Joshua. Joshua leads the people through the Jordan river and divides up the land among the 12 tribes.

15 joshua and judges A"er Joshua dies, there is a period of 7 social, economical and spiritual ups and downs under the Judges for 400 years. A"er 400 years, the people cried out, Give us a King! Image courtesy of Google Earth

16 kings and prophets There were 3 kings under the united kingdom. They were Saul, David and Solomon. A"er Solomon died, the kingdom was divided. There were 10 tribes in the north, 2 in the south Name of the north was Israel Name of the south was Judah Capital of the north was Samaria Capital of the south was Jerusalem There were 19 Kings in the north, 20 Kings in the south There were 0 good kings the north, 8 Good kings in the south Image courtesy of Google Earth

17 captivity and and we ve never heard from them since... return In 722 B.C., King Shalamanezer the 5th #om Assyria, comes down and takes the 10 tribes captive, disperses them, and we ve never heard from them since. In 605 B.C., King Nebuchadnezzar #om Babylon takes the 2 tribes captive, takes them back to Babylon for 70 years.

18 captivity and return A"er 70 years, three men, Zerubbabel, Ezra and Nehemiah returned with 50,000 Jews where they rebuild the walls, rebuild their homes, rebuild the temple, reestablish communication with God. A"er which there is 400 years of silence broken by the sound of a man saying, Behold the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.
