1 BS-200 Chemistry Analyzer Preventive Maintenance Manual Global Technical Support Department For Bio-Chemistry 1

2 Dear Service Engineer, It is well known fact that instrumentation which is well taken care of will out perform and out last than which is not. The Mindray BS-200 Automatic Chemistry Analyzer is no exception to this rule. Chemistry systems that are well taken care of by their users and service personnel will have many fewer problems than those which are not. Fewer problems mean fewer service calls, and happier customers. The preventive maintenance (PM) manual is offered as a standard guide to follow. You will find that, depending on the quality of care which an instrument receives, 12 months preventive maintenance visits will require varying degrees of thoroughness. The important point here is that the reliability of the Mindray BS-200 is somewhat dependant on the quality and quantity of attention it receives during its 12 months preventive maintenance visit. The service engineer has a substantial amount of influence on the call rate of each system. Taking a little extra time to educate users as to the proper way of caring for an instrument will, on most cases, increase the instruments reliability, and the customer s satisfaction. This manual is intended for use only by Service Engineers who are trained by Mindray and do not replace or reduce the operator maintenance recommended in the BS-200 Operator s Manual. Unauthorized use of these procedures can damage the analyzer and void the warranty of contract. The PM kit contains the parts needed for the preventive maintenance. Other parts can be replaced at additional cost. If you have any questions or suggestions, please us at service@mindray.com. Sincerely, Mindray Service Team 2

Exercise caution when disconnecting the connector. Excessive force may damage the connector and/or the circuit board Use a slotted head screwdriver to remove the retaining screw on the probe and take out the spring. Store the removed probe in a safe place where it will neither endanger people working around the area nor be damaged. Exercise caution when pulling the probe away from the arm Slowly pull the probe away from the probe arm. Exercise caution so that the gasket inside the probe does not drop out and if it does, store it in a clean place for later installation. When the probe is clogged, the fluid flow will become abnormal. Follow the steps given below to remove, unclog and install the probe How to use unclogging tool Purpose To keep the normal fluid flow Interval When the probe is clogged Procedures 8

9 Place a container like beaker below the sample probe Connect the unclogging device to the tubing connector Use a single-use syringe to aspirate 3ml CD80 wash solution, remove the needle and connect the syringe to the other end of the unclogging device Push the syringe plunger slowly until there comes liquid out of the sample probe tip. If no liquid comes out of the sample probe tip, insert a needle into the sample probe tip and push the syringe plunger Leave the sample probe soaked with wash solution for about 10 minutes. Push and pull the syringe plunger for several times until liquid comes out of the probe tip evenly Use the syringe to aspirate deionized water and rinse the sample probe for at least 3 times Remove the unclogging device and the syringe, and then connect the tubing connector Remove the container How to replace the washer Purpose To keep the sealingness of the fluidic path and sampling precision well Interval If you remove and install the probe for about 2-3 times or it leaks between the probe s fluid connector and the tubing connector, you should replace the washer with a new one. 9

10 Procedures Follow the steps from to remove the probe. You will see a small gasket inside the tubing connector which is removed from the probe Remove the old washer with tweezers and put a new one inside the probe. Dispose the old one in proper way. The next step is installing the probe Insert the probe back into the hole on probe arm, and align the hole on probe plate to the rotor inside the arm Sleeve the spring on the rotor and screw the retaining screws to secure Pinch the probe by the part near the probe arm. Gently push the probe upward and then release the probe to see if the spring can move freely. If yes, proceed to the next step. If not, check for errors and try again after removing the errors Connect the probe s circuit connector back to the circuit board Ensure the gasket is inside the probe Exercise caution when connecting the probe. Excessive force may bend the probe. Screw (clockwise) the probe s fluid connector back to the tubing connector Add deionized water to a clean cup. Immerse the probe tip into the water by about 3mm and the LED on the circuit board will be lighted. Take the probe tip out of water, and the LED will be off. If the test succeeds, proceed to the next step Check the marks inside the probe arm cover to see the orientation of the cover. Install the cover back to the probe arm.the marks inside the probe arm cover are shown in the figure below. 10
