1 TM SLA-1500-OEM Start-Up Guide January 2016 (This guide is also for SLE configured boards) 2016 SightLine Applications, Inc. SUG-SLA-1500-OEM.PDF Cover page
2 PURPOSE This guide provides the steps for connecting, configuring, and testing the SLA-1500-OEM on a SLA-1500-AB (accessory board or AB ). The AB provides the standard connections for communication with the SLA-1500-OEM. The SLE family uses this same startup procedure. We recommend setting up as a standalone network or connect directly to the SLA-1500 from the Host PC. The below diagram outlines these two options. NETWORK CONFIGURATION Either of these examples require that you assign the HOST computer a static IP address. Please refer to your computer s documentation on how to assign a static address. Example #1 shown here consists of the SLA OEM, a network switch, and the HOST computer. The SLA-1500-OEM has defaulted to its pre-defined IP address of Example #2 shows the SLA-1500-OEM connected directly to the HOST computer. NOTE: Please disable your wireless adapter if there is one present/active on the HOST computer. The SLA OEM s default IP address (when no DHCP server is available) is Assign a static IP address to the HOST computer of X.X, where X is (do not use 180). Use a subnet mask of The host PC static IP address assignment is required to when no DHCP server is present. SUG-SLA-1500-OEM.PDF Page 1
3 SERIAL COMMUNCATIONS If a network connection cannot be established, you can optionally use the 9-pin serial connection (coupled with the 5-pin power connector). Please refer to Appendix A for further information on using this method to connect to the SLA-1500-OEM board. BASE KIT CONTENTS - There will be a separate Kit Parts List included with your SLA-1500-OEM video processing board. 4 SOFTWARE & HARDWARE SETUP: SLA-1500-OEM This section will guide you through the software and hardware setup process. The first steps outline how to install the SLA-Panel Plus application. It provides a basic interface to the features and functions of SLA-1500-OEM (with the AB). SOFTWARE SLA-PANEL PLUS Program 1 Download and install SLA- Panel software application Load an Internet web browser and go to: 2 From the SightLine support page, select the latest SLA- Panel Plus software version. From your browser select the version of software that you would like to download. Selecting the link will initiate the download process. Note: we recommend versions between firmware and Panel/Panel Plus applications match. Also using the latest version means you have the most up to date features. Figure 2 > 3 You will be prompted to click SAVE. Select a local folder to save the zip file. Then extract the files and run the SLA- Panel Plus Setup/MSI installation file. IMPORTANT: After installation of the software and the very first time the SightLine SLA-Panel Plus application is launched, a Windows Firewall prompt to allow access will appear. Please check the box to Allow Access which updates security settings to facilitate network communications. Please make sure to respond to this request promptly, as some security policies exist where a timeout value is implemented and the defaulted option will restrict access. If this does occur, please uninstall and re-install the SLA-Panel Plus application. SUG-SLA-1500-OEM.PDF Page 3
