2 EXTENDED SCHOOL TERMS & PROCEDURES Why We have established an extended school to meet the before and after-school care needs of our community and to ensure that those children participating are cared for in a secure, enjoyable and engaging environment. This facility is currently only for Wainscott School children and operates in term time only. Breakfast Club When: Term time only, Monday to Friday, 7.30am 8.35am 2.00 per session. What: Breakfast consists of a choice of cereals, toast, crumpets with a choice of spreads and fruit. Tea, water or fruit juices are offered as drinks. After eating the children can join in variety of social games and activities or just sit and chat. Late Care When: Term time only, Monday to Friday, 3.15pm 6.00pm 3.00 per session (Twilight) 5.00 per session (Late Care) 7.00 per session (Extended Care) What: Flexible after-school care to assist parents with child care arrangements. If work shifts, part-time or variable hours mean you cannot give us fixed days then we will do our best to accommodate you. There are a variety of activities available, including just relaxing and chatting with friends. The aim is to make it a fun experience, rather like going back to a friend s house after school. Attendance Parents/ carers must complete a registration form before their child can attend either club, which is updated annually. We also operate an as & when system for parents who need to use it on an occasional basis. Whilst we can t guarantee to have a space available, we will always do our best to accommodate children. You will however need to register for occasional use. We are happy to accept telephone bookings provided your child is registered, but you must speak to a adult to arrange this and not just leave a message.. Registration forms are available online from our website or can be picked up from the school office. Arrival & Collection On arrival, children are immediately registered by a member of staff and then can start to relax. In the mornings, children access the Breakfast Club is via the back gate. There is a CCTV buzzer entry system in operation. At 8.35am, children are escorted into the playground where they are supervised until they enter class at 8.40am.

3 In the evenings, children are escorted to Late Care by school staff at the end of the school day or once their after-school activity club has finished. Parents/carers collect from Late Care via the back gate. No adult other than those named on the registration form will be allowed to collect a child from the club. Should someone arrive to collect who is unknown to us, you will be called immediately to confirm that we can release your child to them. If the child is to be collected by someone other than the named parent/carer, this must be indicated to a member of staff prior to the start of a session and recorded by the Late Care staff. Absences If your child is going to be absent from a session, parents must contact the club in advance. If a child is absent from the club without prior warning, staff will check to see if they have attended school that day. A thorough search of the school premises will take place. If after 15 minutes of searching, the child cannot be located, staff will contact parents/carers to check if the child is at home. If not then staff will notify the police. Payment & Charges Payment is to be made in advance and all unattended sessions will be charged. This includes sessions missed if your child is absent from school due to illness or approved/unapproved leave. We accept childcare vouchers. Late collection Late pick-ups will be charged at 1.00 per minute. Administration of Medicine A medicine form needs to be completed and signed for parents wishing to have any drug administered to their child by staff whilst at Breakfast or Late Care Clubs. Behaviour The school s current Behaviour Policy applies to all our Extended School activities. After School Clubs Every term a list of the clubs, days, times, will be sent out to parents/carers so that you and your child can choose which clubs they want to attend. Most clubs are free, unless they are run by outside groups, who will normally charge. All clubs start straight after school at 3.20pm. Children are escorted to the Lunch Hall by staff at the end of the school day, from where they are collected by the member/s staff running the club. Children are released from the main school entrance to parents/carers. Finishing times vary so please refer to the individual club letters. Any child attending Late Care will be escorted there by the member of staff running their After School club. Children who have siblings attending Twilight will also be escorted to Late Care and so can be collected from there. Where possible clubs will not be cancelled and will go ahead regardless of the weather. Every club operates a register run by the staff member concerned. The office will be notified of any child in school who has not turned up for their club and parents will be contacted to check if the child has gone home. If a child signs up for a club they are expected to attend for the whole term (normally 6-8 weeks). Please let the school know if your child will not be attending a club for any reason. Children may apply for as many clubs as they wish. We will do our best to accommodate everyone but will also try to ensure that every child has at least one or two clubs that they can attend. Where clubs are oversubscribed we will run a waiting list and also try to ensure an alternative club is offered.
