2 MCP 300/500 Sucromat Building on 3 Decades of Experience Sugar analysis with Sucromat saccharimeters has a long tradition, beginning in the 1980s with the first Sucromat series, developed and distributed by Dr. Kernchen GmbH. In 2007 Dr. Kernchen became part of the Anton Paar group, which is renowned for its high-quality rheometers, refractometers, density and sound velocity meters, and research instruments for surface analysis. The MCP 300/500 Sucromat is the new generation of saccharimeters for the sugar industry. Continuing the Sucromat s tradition of high accuracy, MCP Sucromat meets all international standards, e.g. ICUMSA, OIML and Australian Standard K 157. Unrivaled Accuracy for Sugar Payments Making Work Easier for the User Sugar suppliers are paid based on the sugar content they deliver. Therefore, sugar factories can optimize their profits by measuring the sugar content of the incoming crop as accurately as possible. As MCP Sucromat reliably measures sugar content with an accuracy of ±0.01 Z, payment can be calculated exactly. The money saved by only paying for the actual sugar content means the instrument pays for itself in a short period of time. 100 % ICUMSA compliance The official ICUMSA method GS2/3-1 The Braunschweig Method for the Polarisation of White Sugar by Polarimetry specifies a measuring accuracy of ±0.01 Z. This accuracy is provided by both MCP Sucromat models over the entire measuring range. Using MCP Sucromat helps fulfil the requirements for trading on the world sugar market. For all other ICUMSA methods, MCP Sucromat provides the required accuracy. Other scales used in the sugar industry, such as Z International Sugar Scale, with and without temperature compensation, Optical Rotation, %Sucrose, %Glucose, %Purity are programmed into the MCP Sucromat as standard. Customer-specific scales are available on request. MCP Sucromat has been designed with the user in mind. The built-in software supports intuitive menu navigation. The user is guided through calibration step-by-step. The user has the choice of operating the saccharimeter via the touchscreen or for operation in harsh industrial environments via the soft keys positioned around the screen. MCP Sucromat is easily integrated into existing LIMS systems via RS232. It also provides a CAN bus connection, VGA port, Ethernet port, and 4 USB ports for connecting a bar code reader, keyboard, mouse, printer or USB stick. Three of these USB connections are on the side of the saccharimeter so it does not need to be moved when connecting external accessories. As MCP Sucromat requires a light source to perform its measurements, it is equipped with a tungsten halogen lamp. This has a working life of around 2000 hours. Replacement is simple and requires no special knowledge of electrical engineering. As the lamp is located in a separate compartment outside the MCP Sucromat, the instrument itself does not need to be opened. This simple replacement keeps service costs at a minimum and reduces downtime.

3 Purity Determination for Quality Control To determine the purity of sugar, MCP Sucromat can be combined with Anton Paar s Abbemat refractometer to make a powerful team. The Abbemat refractometer provides an accuracy of % Brix. As it works with MCP Sucromat it needs no PC connection. Brix, Purity, % RDS and Z are displayed on the MCP Sucromat screen and recorded in one data file to provide complete sugar analysis. Upgrade at Any Time MCP Sucromat uses a modular concept which allows customer-specific configurations and provides the widest range of options for the future. Upgrade to measure dark-colored samples MCP 300 Sucromat can be easily upgraded to a MCP 500 Sucromat, which measures both conventionally prepared samples and samples prepared without lead. Upgrade to benefit from temperature control/peltier To provide the fastest measurements possible, MCP Sucromat is equipped with an automatic temperature compensation (ISS TC). Sample throughput is high, ensuring optimal efficiency in the laboratory. Demanding quality control applications additionally require highly accurate temperature control. The MCP 300/500 Sucromat can be delivered with, or upgraded to, a fully automatic Peltier temperature control system which eliminates the need for a thermostatic water bath. The Peltier system automatically controls the sample temperature in the range from 15 C to 45 C.* * at physically standard conditions

4 For All Clarification Processes Methods using some clarification processes may produce colored filtrates, which are too dark to be measured at a visible wavelength, but transparent enough for near infrared measurement. MCP Sucromat is available in two models: MCP 300 Sucromat and MCP 500 Sucromat. MCP 300 Sucromat uses a visible wavelength of 589 nm and is suitable for measurement of clarified samples up to an Optical Density (OD) of 4.0. The high-end model, MCP 500 Sucromat, uses two wavelengths: 589 nm and 880 nm. At 880 nm MCP 500 Sucromat accurately measures colored filtrates. Measurement based on near infrared is applicable to all raw sugars, white sugars and sugars which require clarification. 880 nm 589 nm 880 nm 589 nm Eliminates Human Error MCP Sucromat uses Anton Paar s Toolmaster TM technology to automatically transfer the data needed for calibration and measurement. This makes MCP Sucromat the first intelligent saccharimeter on the market and helps eliminate human error during operation. When the sample cell is changed, the MCP Sucromat immediately detects the new sample cell. The Toolmaster TM memory chip transfers all relevant data from the connected item into the instrument s software. Measurements are therefore clearly documented and traceable. Calibration and adjustment of the saccharimeter no longer require tables and manual entry of temperature values. The Toolmaster TM memory chip on the quartz control plate contains all the relevant calibration data. After connecting the quartz control plate to the MCP Sucromat, all the parameters required for the adjustment procedure are automatically transferred to the instrument. This automatic data transfer minimizes operating errors. The user is lead step-by-step through the procedure on the MCP Sucromat screen. Calibration is completed in a matter of minutes. Quartz control plates are delivered with a manufacturer s certificate. PTB certificates are available on request.
