2 About the Awards The Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, BITS Pilani presents to you the MANTRA AWARDS for excellence in the fields of 1. Leadership 2. Entrepreneurship 3. Social leadership These awards are being given in accordance with CEL s vision of creating leaders through entrepreneurial thinking. The awards shall be given by Mantra Capital LLC headed by Mr. Anupendra Sharma who is one of our most outstanding alumni in the global arena today. Two awards, (male and female) shall be given for the Leadership category, and one each for other categories. (No award may be given in a particular category, at the judges discretion) Award Benefits The winner of a Mantra Award shall receive a cash award of 5000 INR and a certificate from Mantra Capital LLC and CEL, BITS Pilani certifying his/her ability in the respective field and proficiency at it. Who should Apply? All students in undergraduate and postgraduate on campus programs at BITS Pilani are eligible to apply. This award seeks to recognize exemplary achievements of students in the fields of entrepreneurship, social leadership, leadership and innovation during their education at BITS Pilani. How to Apply To apply, you are required to submit: A bio, or short note about yourself A note describing why deserve the award in your chosen category (you can only apply to no more than one category) The combined length of both parts should not exceed 500 words. Please do not include anything other than the above notes and contact information in your application. The total length of your application should not exceed one (A4 sized) page, when printed. (We recommend you use Times New Roman with a font size not less than 12.) 2

3 It is likely that we ll use an automated script to print your application, so if you submit a multipage application, only the first page will be printed and reviewed Applicants who apply early will have a definite advantage, as judges will have more time to review your application. The application should be ed to mantra@celbits.org. 1 Panel Composition The panel of judges comprises Anupendra Sharma, 3 faculty members and a student member nominated by CEL, BITS Pilani. 4 Application Guidelines The guidelines mentioned below for are meant to help you plan your application. We recommend your application should answer the questions below. However, these are not the only criteria on which judging shall be done. The judges reserve the right to include what they feel is important on a case to case basis based on their knowledge and experience. LEADERSHIP What was the scale of your work as a leader In terms of number of people affected or target achieved extent etc. What was the impact of your leadership on both your final target achievement and on your team? This can be subjectively your opinion but you can additionally get survey data on impact on people or team members etc. How were you different from the previous leader (if any) in your position and in what way did you improve the leadership of your team apropos the last leader. What was the scale of the organization/group etc. that you led? ENTREPRENEURSHIP Originality of IDEA (product or service) Extent of impact on target audience and size of target audience How did you execute your idea and what was the end result? How different was it from the original idea? Did you work with a team or was a singlehanded project? Did your venture succeed? If so, the reason of your success. SOCIAL LEADERSHIP What was the nature of problem addressed and to what extent did it solve it (if applicable) What was the tangible impact of respect to your leadership? Where the work was done and the specific challenges you faced and overcame. 4

6 TERMS AND CONDITIONS By applying to the Mantra Awards ( Awards ), presented by CEL BITS Pilani ( CEL ), you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions below, 1. At any stage of the application process, required certification or recommendations or proof for claimed achievements can be asked for. Failure to provide such proof shall result in the immediate withdrawal of your application from the Awards process. 2. Two awards shall be given for the leadership field, one male and one female. The other awards shall have only one awardee, be it male or female. 3. It is possible that no individual might receive the award for a particular category depending on the quality of applications received as decided by the judges. 4. These awards are open to the entire BITSian student community, both undergraduate and postgraduate. There is no bar and no special preference for any of these two categories. However, it is necessary for applicants to have demonstrated achievement during their BITSian life (including practice school and vacations). 5. Evidence of their achievements is subject to the judges panel and shall be taken up during the interview for further verification if required. 6. Each individual applicant can apply for only one field. 7. Around 20 finalists shall be selected for the interview. There is no restriction on the exact number of finalists per category but there shall be near equable distribution. 8. All decisions made by the judges and CEL with regard to these Awards shall be binding on all applicants 9. CEL reserves the right to make changes to the Award structure, application process and eligibility. By applying to the Awards, you agree to be bound by all such changes. 10.
