Spray Applications Soil: fertigation ph Specifications
Spray Applications This document provides guidelines for handling Redox Turf nutritional products specifically with Spray applications (ground units). For additional information or assistance, please contact your Redox Turf distribution sales representative. Mixing Compatibility Use caution with reactive materials, such as Phosphate & Calcium (which may solidify and create mixing and compatibility issues). Avoid extreme shifts in tank ph. When utilizing Redox materials that acidify, check tank ph and use buffers as necessary. Most pesticides will tank mix with Redox products. Avoid tank mixing Redox products with any material that might have an adverse reaction. It is recommended that you Jar Test all combinations prior to loading in a tank when the mix has not been previously successful. Avoid tank mixing Redox products with any material that might cause turf or plant damage. Mixing Order Exercise extreme caution and avoid using penetrating surfactants and foliar nutrients on plants that might be susceptible to burn or moisture stress. The order in which you mix materials may have an effect on maintaining solution. The recommended mixing order is: 1. High ph 2. Low ph 3. Surfactants / Liquids / Wetting Agents Hydration dry soluble powders Pre mixing is recommended for sprayers without optimum agitation and required when utilizing any of the following Redox Turf products within the mixture: Turf Rx C-85 Turf Rx Bio Turf Rx Gold Turf Rx P+ Turf Rx Fairway Turf Rx Fe+ Vigorous mechanical agitation is the preferred, but in many cases pumps only provide agitation. Centrifugal pumps provide more recirculation and agitation than diaphragm pumps.
Spray Applications Dilution Ratios Pumps: Low Capacity Diaphragm Pumps No mechanical agitation: Pre-mix and hydrate dry Redox materials prior to adding to the spray tank. Do not exceed 35 pounds dry Redox material per 100 gallons of water. Substract liquid fertilizers and water required to solubolize other dry materials from water content available for proper Redox ratios. High Capacity Diaphragm Pumps Good Agitation - No mechanical agitation: Pre-mixing and hydrating dry Redox materials prior to adding to the spray tank or use of an educator is encouraged but not critical. Do not exceed 60 pounds of dry Redox material per 100 gallons of water. Substract liquid fertilizers and water required to solubolize other dry materials from water content available for proper Redox ratios. High Capacity Centrifugal Pumps Good Agitation - No mechanical agitation: Diaphragm Pumps: Pre-mixing and hydrating dry Redox materials prior to adding to the spray tank or use of an educator is encouraged but not critical. Do not exceed 100 pounds dry Redox material per 100 gallons of water. Substract liquid fertilizers and water required to solubolize other dry materials from water content available for proper Redox ratios. Diaphragm pumps provide the greatest pressure compensation, but low flow rates. Diaphragm pump systems require pre-mixing and more care in pre-hydration of products prior to loading thorough basket screen. Centrifugal Pumps: Centrifugal pumps provide the greatest flow, but have lower pressure compensation. This is the optimal system for product mixing where less time for premixing or hydration is acceptable. A Note On Pump and Spray Tip Filters: All screens should be 50 mesh or larger to allow unrestricted flow of concentrated solutions Stainless steel screens will plug less than poly or plastic screens Inline and or tip screens may be removed where applications are made as recommended Material Loading Premixing or eductor systems allow for more thorough hydration. Fill the tank 50% full prior to adding materials. Don t add material too quickly this allows for more thorough hydration. Add through basket screen
Fertigation Soil Application This document provides guidelines for handling Redox Turf nutritional products specifically with Fertigation (Irrigation Injection) units. For additional information or assistance, please contact your Redox Turf distribution sales representative. Injection Site 1. Injection site agitation is always required, particularly when any Redox Turf products are used in combination with other materials. Agitation requirements may be reduced as directed or allowable per the Solution Guide chart displayed within these guidelines. 2. Follow these guidelines for product handling at the injection site. a. Always allow adequate time for materials to properly mix and hydrate prior to injection into the irrigation system. b. Minimal agitation systems should have no more than 50 pounds of dry Redox materials per 100 gallons of water. Minimal agitation systems are defined as those with only moderate mechanical agitation or centrifugal pumps not capable of recirculating the tank contents in less than 20 minutes. c. Optimum agitation systems should have no more than 100 pounds of dry Redox material per 100 gallons of water. Optimum agitation systems are those defined as having cone bottom tanks, vigorous mechanical agitation and/or centrifugal pumps capable of recirculating the contents of the tank in less than 10 minutes. d. Calculate water and Redox dry material ratios after substrating any liquid fertilizer material from the ratio. Do not include liquid fertilizers in the dry:water ratio. 3. If injecting before the irrigation system filter, make sure that the injection port is a sufficient distance away that will allow the products to disperse in the water prior to hitting the filters. In most cases, post-filter injection is best because product will not be lost to back-flushing. 4. Avoid tank mixing Redox products with any material that might have an adverse reaction. It is recommended that you Jar Test all combinations prior to loading in a tank when the mix has not been previously successful. 5. Avoid tank mixing Redox products with any material that might cause turf or plant damage. 6. Use caution with reactive materials, such as Phosphate & Calcium (which may solidify and create mixing and compatibility issues).
Fertigation Soil Application A Note On Screens: All screens should be 50 mesh or larger to allow unrestricted flow of concentrated solutions Stainless steel screens will plug less than poly or plastic screens Screen removal is acceptable for solutions using only Redox Turf solutions Tank Solution & Agitation Pumps: Diaphragm Pumps: Diaphragm pumps provide the greatest pressure compensation, but low flow rates. Diaphragm pump systems require pre-mixing and more care in pre-hydration of products prior to loading thorough basket screen. Centrifugal Pumps: Centrifugal pumps provide the greatest flow, but have lower pressure compensation. If used for injection, be sure that the pump is able to inject at a greater pressure than the irrigation system pressure. This is the optimal system for product mixing where less time for premixing or hydration is acceptable.
